@detroitsports04 Just ignoring what Fridege says whom has been saying for a year Yzerman was considering retiring then and that’s been reported elsewhere now too? If he was shown the door it wouldn’t happen on 7/15.

Ansar basically confirms what I was hearing from my sources. Yzerman was shown the door. He knew and everyone in that building knew. It’s malpractice that it took as long as it did. Once Larkin wanted out, Steve should’ve been out if you knew he was already gone. #LGRW #NHL

@frank_seravalli @DetroitRedWings There were rumours at the end of the year the Yzerman might step down - if he wanted. We don't know all the details, but it was rumoured he might get "elevated" into an advisor role. Internal candidates Kris Draper and Shawn Horcoff have been speculated as possible replacements.

The @DetroitRedWings announce that Steve Yzerman is out as general manager, will transition to an advisor role. Owner Chris Ilitch will lead a search to find Detroit’s next GM, including internal and external candidates.

So why would the Dead Things allow Yzerman to stay on, run the draft and free agency and move on from him in the middle of July when pretty much the entire hockey world knew when the season ended they needed a new GM? They were gonna let him trade Larkin too? Really bizarre.
