The three-day festival celebrates our Diamond Jubilee through an exciting fusion of music, cuisine, and cultural performances, while showcasing the richness of our diversity and the vibrancy of Guyana’s creative spirit. #Sound #Soul #Taste #GuyanaFestival

I was delighted today to speak to my friend and our neighbour, President Jennifer Geerlings-Simons on various opportunities and challenges ahead of us. I was pleased at our shared commitment in deepening our partnership and friendship to ensure further economic, cooperation, expansion of trade, and integration our economies.

Recently, Canadian Prime Minister @MarkJCarney and I engaged in fruitful discussions on areas of mutual interest and benefit to our countries, including investment, innovation, climate, and global biodiversity.

Today, we hosted @luisabinader, President of the Dominican Republic, for a State Visit to Guyana as we continue to strengthen the partnership between our two countries. Today’s discussions focused on cooperation in energy, agriculture, tourism and investment, while advancing opportunities for greater private sector collaboration and regional energy security between Guyana and the Dominican Republic.

I'm pleased the US not only reinforces its support for Guyana’s sovereignty and partnership but also recognises the role Guyana plays in energy and national security in the region. We look forward to continuing to work with US companies on advancing national and regional security.

As we continue to build stronger relations with the United States, it was indeed an honour to meet with the @UnderSecE to continue dialogue on the strategic positioning of Guyana with the US on investment opportunities, economic expansion, and special development framework to advance greater US investment and partnerships.

I thank the House Foreign Affairs Committee for reaffirming the United States’s unequivocal support for Guyana’s sovereignty and territorial integrity. We look forward to continuing to work tirelessly with the US to build prosperity for our countries and to strengthen and advance our relationship.

𝐆𝐨𝐯𝐞𝐫𝐧𝐦𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐬 𝐨𝐟 𝐆𝐮𝐲𝐚𝐧𝐚 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐃𝐨𝐦𝐢𝐧𝐢𝐜𝐚𝐧 𝐑𝐞𝐩𝐮𝐛𝐥𝐢𝐜 𝐬𝐭𝐫𝐞𝐧𝐠𝐭𝐡𝐞𝐧𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐜𝐨𝐨𝐩𝐞𝐫𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 The Governments of Guyana and the Dominican Republic continue to strengthen the strong partnership established through the 2023 Memorandum of Understanding (MOU), which outlined cooperation in the areas of energy, oil refinery, agriculture, tourism, and petrochemicals. Guided by this framework and supported by growing private-sector collaboration in both countries, several initiatives have advanced steadily across a range of sectors. Today marks another important step in that ongoing partnership, as the Government of the Dominican Republic, through Refineria Dominicana de Petróleo S.A., continues discussions aimed at deepening cooperation and exploring opportunities for strategic investment within Guyana’s oil and gas sector. Among the areas under consideration is investment interest relating to the Berbice Block, previously held by On Energy, as well as broader discussions on regional energy security and future opportunities for collaboration. These engagements align with the Government of Guyana’s long-term vision of enhancing national and regional energy security, while positioning Guyana as an important energy partner within the Caribbean. The two Presidents also welcomed the increasing collaboration between private sector entities in both countries, including efforts to form partnerships and consortia in agriculture, energy, and petrochemicals. Both Governments expressed satisfaction with the progress being made under the framework of the MOUs signed in 2023 and reaffirmed their commitment to advancing initiatives that strengthen economic ties and create mutual opportunities for the people of Guyana and the Dominican Republic.

I have written to Dr. Terrence Drew, Chairman of CARICOM, formally objecting to the actions of Delcy Rodríguez, who publicly displayed a map during official engagements within CARICOM member states falsely portraying Guyana’s Essequibo region as part of Venezuela.

This year alone, we are hosting 11 major conferences and six major sporting events—opportunities that were not possible just two years ago. With expanded capacity and growing confidence in the sector, we are positioning Guyana as a premier destination for global events.
