@drotchford_BC They absolutely did — because they have common sense. The purpose of the BC Human Rights Tribunal is to attack conservative free speech by labeling it a “hate crime.” The tribunal recently fined a man $750K for not believing in transgender ideology.

@amboultbee Who is this MLA? She sounds like a patriotic Canadian that will stand up for free speech rights no matter the cost.

What an absolute, total and utter waste of time this 1st reading nonsense continues to be for #bcleg BC should follow House of Commons + UK and let MLAs put any bill through 1st reading so public can read it and hold that MLA accountable. Instead, parties play wedge politics.
Ravi Kahlon@KahlonRav

The BC Conservatives are voting to eliminate the Human Rights Code. That’s not politics — that’s people’s lives. It means fewer protections if you’re denied a job, housing, or services because of who you are. Our human rights aren’t optional!

Just now in the chamber, an MLA brought a bill to abolish the Human Rights Code. The motion was narrowly defeated. This person abuses her parliamentary position almost daily, introducing bills that have no real policy intent or hope of passing, for the sole purpose of making the rest of us jump up and down like trained seals so she can procedurally dog whistle to her homophobes and Trump supporters. Punching down on gay kids and trans kids, taking advantage of tragedy to push hateful and ignorant rhetoric, and dragging down the conduct of this entire House by proximity is appalling. To anyone who has been targeted and victimized by this MLA, I am sorry I was once affiliated with her. Know that I reject her hateful positions, rhetoric and methods. To those in this House too cowardly to vote against this ignorance for fear of being targeted by her bots or alienating Trump supporters, shame on you. My Recall Bill can’t come into law fast enough.

Federal human rights laws already protect against discrimination based on race. The purpose of the BC Human Rights Tribunal is to attack conservative free speech by labeling it a “hate crime.” The tribunal recently fined a man $750K for not believing in transgender ideology.
Ravi Kahlon@KahlonRav

Honestly shocked. The BC Conservatives just voted to legalize discrimination based on race, sex and other characteristics. They have voted to stop other bills at first reading during this parliament, but not this one.

The Tumbler Ridge massacre was politicized 10 years ago when the BC Liberals legislated SOGI into our schools. Yet today, the Left cries “politicization” to silence those forwarding policy solutions to fix the problem the Liberals and NDP created. The reason why police, politicians, and the media told us that the Tumbler Ridge murderer was a female is that they know transgender violence is real. And the reason they are telling us not to talk about the killer is because they don’t want to accept any responsibility for enabling his actions. For years, they’ve been pretending that a man can become a woman. They’ve told us to celebrate that. They’ve been giving youth drugs and surgeries that permanently alter their bodies and have even made it a literal crime to simply counsel struggling young people. These policies made it harder to treat mental illness and to institutionalize people posing a risk to themselves and others. Transgender self-harm is well known. Two-thirds of youth identifying as trans have other psychological conditions and about half have experienced suicidal thoughts. The risk of violence to others is real as well. In the last five years, there have been 12 school shootings in the United States and Canada where at least one person died. A male identifying as transgender was the killer in 4 of those 12. These statistics indicate that transgenders committed 33% of these deadly school shootings in the US and Canada despite making up about only 3% of the youth population. This pattern of transgender violence isn’t something that should be ignored, minimized, or obscured. Our nation is united in grief and solidarity. We all stand with the families in Tumbler Ridge. They have our complete love and support. And if we want to ensure nothing like this ever happens again, we must also be filled with resolve. We must tell the truth. Accept no lies. Have the difficult conversations we need to have to ensure that a devastating tragedy like this never occurs again. While the best time to start was yesterday, the next best time is today. Bad politics enabled this massacre, but good politics could have prevented it. After the 9/11 terrorist attacks, we instituted strict aviation security measures. After the École Polytechnique massacre, we instituted gun control. In the past, we’ve learned from tragic events and forwarded the necessary policies to prevent them from reoccurring. For Tumbler Ridge, that means repealing SOGI and prohibiting the administration of medical transitions on minors. The BC Government must offer more than condolences, but actionable policy measures to ensure these tragedies don’t repeat themselves. Together, we can say “never again” with Tumbler Ridge.

“MLA Armstrong made two tweets that attacked the Transgender Community, before any details of the tragedy were even officially released by the RCMP.” Her statements were factually correct and verified. Why should she have waited for the RCMP?
CentreBC@VoteCentreBC

In response to the mis and disinformation following the Tumbler Ridge tragedy: On February 10th, 2026, while most British Columbians were carrying heavy hearts and grieving the tragic situation in Tumbler Ridge, Tara Armstrong, MLA for Kelowna-Lake Country-Coldstream, took the opportunity to capitalize on this tragedy for her far-right political agenda. MLA Armstrong made two reprehensible tweets on the night of the shooting that attacked the Transgender Community, before any details of the tragedy were even officially released by the RCMP. This came at a time when she could have used her platform to call for peace, unity and positive change to ensure this never happens again. Since then, Armstrong has double-downed on this harmful rhetoric with inaccurate, misleading data. This is irresponsible behavior for anyone, but especially for an elected representative who should know the impact her actions will have on vulnerable members of the Transgender Community, the traumatized residents of Tumbler Ridge, and the public as a whole. In light of her reckless comments and dangerous sharing of misinformation, we at CentreBC call on MLA Armstrong to apologize to the residents of Tumbler Ridge, British Columbians and the Transgender Community. It is time for MLA Armstrong to step down and remove herself from public office. ~ CentreBC @TaraArmstrongBC

Misinformation about violence by transgender people is so rife that it literally has its own Wikipedia page, which includes actual stats with actual sources. Don’t give in to the politics of disinformation and hate. It only makes things worse.

Will David Eby take any accountability for this transgender mass murder? After 9+ years of pushing radical gender ideology in schools and healthcare, will he finally repeal SOGI? Will he take any action at all? 1/3

A transgender violence epidemic.
Tara Armstrong Press Office tweet media
Tara Armstrong@TaraArmstrongBC

There is an epidemic of transgender violence spreading across the West. Today, a transgender school shooter murdered 9 innocent victims and injured 25 more in Tumbler Ridge, BC. My heart breaks for the victims, their families, and the community. But I can’t stop at condolences — we need solutions. Look at the pattern: Aberdeen Rite Aid Facility in Maryland. Club Q in Colorado. Highlands Ranch School in Colorado. Annunciation Catholic School in Minnesota. Covenant School in Tennessee. Tumbler Ridge Secondary School in British Columbia. This epidemic of violence will continue until we change our society’s response to transgender ideology. When people are a danger to themselves and others, the common sense solution is to treat their mental illness rather than affirm dangerous delusions. I encourage parents and teachers to help fight the transgender violence epidemic themselves — since their government is obviously uninterested in doing so. This issue is entrenched at every level of our education and healthcare systems. If a minor in your care expresses a desire to transition their gender identity, help them. Offer compassion. Affirming delusions is neglect, not care. Our kids are perfect just the way they are. So tell them plainly: they don’t need to change their name or experiment with harmful drugs and surgeries to be loved. Real compassion is affirming their real identity — affirming that they don’t need to change. I pray for the victims and their families. I pray that Tumbler Ridge’s community can recover from this traumatic event. I hope that one day Canadians can feel safe again in their schools, homes, and workplaces. Let today’s senseless tragedy become a catalyst for love and healing.

The Tumbler Ridge shooter was a deranged transgender man who abused his siblings, committed arson, and used drugs such as DMT, SSRIs, and psychedelic mushrooms. MLA Armstrong is speaking the truth. We’re experiencing a transgender violence epidemic.

@AmazingZoltan @TaraArmstrongBC You are arguing that because a Spanish-speaking nation inhabits 8% of North America’s landmass, the other 92% of the continent that speaks English shouldn’t have a right to cultural primacy in their own countries?

@PressArmstrong @TaraArmstrongBC That is very not correct. Mexico is a part of North America, as is the Caribbean—ergo, Spanish came to North America well before English did.
