@PressTaras Not sure I can contribute much but it seems to me we’re looking at the plural of ظَهر “backs” though of course they’re closely related and the contrast with بواطن is intended.

😳 Can't believe I'm holding my own book in my hands! Met up with @PressTaras today and picked up #NabrasNubianNumbers and @HatimAlTai2 's beautifully illustrated Nubian alphabet chart! Also had some really good homemade bread🥖.
