This happened way fast… tinfoil hat time!
1. PSU fires Franklin and makes Campbell #1 priority.
2. PSU reaches out to Campbell mid-season (quietly) and Campbell says “I don’t talk jobs until the season is over. Call me then.”
3. PSU says “bet.”
4. PSU stages this entire search and then stonewalls every “candidate” they reach out to.
5. Campbell, mid-season, talks to Pollard.
6. Pollard starts looking at replacement candidates as the season rolls on.
7. Campbell’s mind is half on ISU, half on PSU, ISU goes on 4 game skid then limps to an 8-4 record.
8. Season finishes, PSU reaches back out.
9. Pollard days “hold on, we’ve got a guy but we’re not quite hammered out with the details yet. I need you to stall.”
10. Thursday comes around and “the process” begins as Pollard is closing in on signing Rogers.
11. Rogers is ready to sign, Matt is ready to sign.
12. Process is over and both PSU and ISU have new head coaches at the same time.
