🇷🇸 Years into eternity On this day in 1999, Colonel Milenko Pavlovic died above Valjevo in a battle with a squadron of NATO aircraft. The order to take off was given to one of the younger officers, but Pavlovic ordered by telephone to call the pilot to stay. When he reached the plane, he said: "You will not die, I will." He pulled the young pilot out of the cockpit and took off instead, heading towards his homeland, towards Valjevo. Pavlovic engaged in an unequal battle against several NATO planes, managed to confuse them and even forced them to retreat with a bold attack, but soon, around 12:45, he was hit by three missiles fired by Dutch pilots from F-16 Fighting Falcon aircraft west of Tuzla. The state awarded him the Order of Bravery, while the Serbian Orthodox Church awarded his family the Order of Saint Bishop Nikolaj for his heroic deed. Heroes live forever!
