@Tesco it appears you have no complaints process online? Ir if you have, it’s certainly not easily found. Please advise how I can let you know about my experience.

Query from a friend… ‘My child’s school (sec: y7) have told us he can’t have support or be on SEN register unless he has a diagnosis (dyslexia/ADHD). His reading age is 4yrs below CA and he can’t access curric. We can’t afford to pay…what do we do?’ @IPSEAcharity @sencochat

@MrBoothY6 No, if they do not require provision that is additional to or different from the universal provision BUT they should be on a monitoring list and staff should be made aware of their diagnosis and possible difficulties.

If a child had adhd, is medicated and generally needs no adjustments during the school day, does school have a legal obligation to put them on the SEN register?

@MrBoothY6 Issue could be if the have to come off meds (we’ve had a child had to do this) which then means adjustments. A tricky one!

@rsgalloway1 @MrBoothY6 In my 10 years as SENCo, I can count on one hand the children who have actually had any support from CAMHS or equivalent - and on one finger the times when that has met need 😓😓

@MrBoothY6 Yes as they are usually receiving support from an outside agency such as camhs providing medication reviews etc

@MrTs_NQTs Unhappy about what though? Sometimes this could be overcome very easily/quickly by giving the parent time there and then. There are lots of things to balance - is your role in welcoming pupils critical/sg? Is there a back story to why parent is ‘unhappy?’ #kindness #compassion

@PrimarySENCo86 Then they should consult the preferred school. DM me if you need any references to CoP or regs.
