I undertook a swift process of registering to renew my National ID at Karuzika Palace in Fort Portal today. I encourage all the eligible Ugandans especially the people of Tooro to register and have their National IDs Renewed to avoid inconveniences that come with expired or lack of National IDs.

Deborah Namutebi in Lusenke Village, Gomba was the last farmer I visited today. She has poultry (broilers), goats and a banana plantation. She exemplifies how the PDM can elevate families from subsistence living to participating in the money economy. Our previous programs, such as NAADS and OWC, initiated this journey of empowering farmers. Now, PDM builds on that foundation by encouraging self-reliance and wealth creation.

On my way back from the National Defence College, I made several stops to greet the people of Jinja, Nkonko Njeru, Mukono Town, and Kalerwe Market. It was good to connect with our people, and I promised to return and share the message of socio-economic transformation with them. I asked them to send better representatives to Parliament because the ones they send do not help them much and they do not wear clothes with the right colour.

I was pleased to welcome His Beatitude Theodoros II, the Orthodox Pope and Patriarch of Alexandria and all Africa, at Entebbe today. We covered a wide range of topics and agreed on the importance of mutual respect among different religious and cultural groups. This idea is illustrated in the biblical parable of the Good Samaritan, where the least likely person ends up being the one who helps someone in need. I wish His Beatitude and his people a good stay in Uganda.

Today, I had the honour to officiate at the 2nd AI for Health Data Science Symposium at Mbarara University of Science and Technology (MUST), where we delved into the vast potential of Artificial Intelligence (AI) in revolutionizing healthcare. With a focus on "Reimagining Artificial Intelligence, Mitigating Bias, Fostering Creativity, and Harmonizing Policy for Equitable AI in Health," we explored the opportunities and challenges of AI adoption in low-resource settings, like Uganda. I emphasized the need for collective intelligence, capacity building, and collaboration among stakeholders to ensure that AI benefits everyone, regardless of their socio-economic background or geographic location. I also commended the efforts of Mbarara University of Science and Technology, particularly the Mbarara University Data Science Research Hub (MUDSReH), in advancing data-driven solutions for healthcare in Uganda. The symposium brought together renowned experts from around the world, including representatives from MIT, Massachusetts General Hospital, and the National Institutes of Health (NIH), to share knowledge, experiences, and best practices in AI for health. I urged all stakeholders to work together in building a vibrant ecosystem for AI in healthcare, guided by principles of equity, inclusivity, and transparency.

#WorldWildlifeDay is upon us and as per the norm, a number of activities have been planned ahead of the celebrations. The Wildlife Conservation Marathon will be held at Akii Bua Stadium in Lira on 2nd March, proceeds from which will be utilized to educate children of fallen rangers. This is a noble cause to support, so, please do register for the Marathon. Endeavor to be part of other conservation events such as the #CraneFestival which will be held in Isingiro District, the #RhinoNaming Ceremony at #ZiwaRhinoSanctuary and a conservation conference at @SheratonKampala hotel.

This afternoon, I joined fellow Ugandans and the global community to commemorate Safer Internet Day at UCC house in Bugolobi. As we mark this significant event, let's reaffirm our commitment to creating a safer, more responsible digital environment, particularly for our children and young people. The theme 'Too good to be true? Protecting yourself and others from scams online' serves as a timely reminder to be cautious and proactive in safeguarding our digital spaces. As a government, we've made significant strides in promoting online safety, including enacting laws such as the Data Protection and Privacy Act (2019) and the Computer Misuse Act (2011). However, ensuring online safety is not just the government's responsibility - it begins at home. Parents and guardians must take an active interest in their children's online activities. Young people must also be equipped with the knowledge and skills to become digital leaders, advocating for a safer online environment and supporting their peers. #SID2025 #saferinternetDay2025 #saferinternet
