Gm gm good people!! My current take on NFTs in the space… It has been a very VERY interesting week for my team behind the scenes as we continue to prepare for our 404 collection launch. The current sentiment towards NFTs is uncertain for a number of reasons Recently I see fear to innovate playing a major factor as well as a culmination of “aping in”, fomo of past collections with NO due diligence resulting in exactly what’s to be expected, a LOT of failures with a few stand out successes. (I honestly feel I’m just repeating a narrative everyone loves to use when sh*t hits the fan) This is the nature of business and people. Now what I will say may come across as unpopular but hey ho here we go! You cannot consider your NFT holdings as a business investment IF you haven’t done any research into the team beyond X metrics and counting LFG’s in discord. Social hype is important but only as an additional layer to a solid business structure. I feel like I’m stating common sense but as the saying goes ‘common sense isn’t all that common’. You are a holder. Part of a gamified system that (on the surface) gives you no more right to company making decisions than a Sainsbury’s nectar card. For my friends unfamiliar with Sainsbury’s, just replace the word with a retail provider you know that offers a points incentive on purchases. You are a member of a community. You may even have voting rights. There may be a financial incentive but the enjoyment of simply having the asset has to trump the value of any one card eg Pokemon cards were popular as collectors items waaaaaaaaaay before they were considered investment pieces. As a game developer I want NFTs to be fun and also to have… here’s that word… “utility” Thing is we all co-exist in a space that is so fickle and dangerous that a single “thought leader’s” opinion can literally make or break a new idea before it has even had the time to develop. Which comes to my main point. TIME. Great things take TIME. Time to ideate. Time to research and develop. Time to deliver. This space gives ZERO f’s about time and instead has grown to use NFTs as guaranteed money making mechanics. Now it’s meme coins. And tbh I’m not mad at it at all. Do what makes you happy but where does the entitlement come from when you take an L when someone fails to deliver on something that you were only ever in for exit liquidity in the first place?? We need to mature. Who am I? Kl kl then that’s another issue. Do we even respect the teams that have been grinding their asses off, majority for little to no money in the space? I get it results are EARNED. However when was the last time instead of criticising a founder you tried to connect them to someone who may be able to solve a problem? In fact, when was the last time you just messaged a founder and said “Hey, I really like x y z about your project” Ok…. Rant (if that’s what this is) over Why do I think SPL 404/hybrid NFTs are different? I believe @MutantLabs_ are on to something special. I’m not afraid to take risks based on what I’ve seen and what I believe in my gut. For me personally… I want you to TRADE your NFTs I want you to SWAP for their equivalent value in @Thentitoken I’m glad it opens all sorts of possibilities for arbitrage pitting sentimental value against token value. Liquidity pools and marketplaces working in tandem. I’m here for it. I sincerely hope you’re here for it too. My only cta if you’ve got this far… ***Jump into our discord*** See you on the moon 🚀🌖
