@Izard_of_Widd @planetzomax That is said in the video, that it's been there for way longer than 15 years (at least the 90s) and that it's been missing from content in recent years. It is also mentionned that all veterans I asked knew about it. It used to be known by all and isn't anymore.

@planetzomax thank you for saying this. I've been seeing this post all over my social media like it's some forgotten knowledge when we've been doing this for 15yrs - this is how advanced metal is configured in every major shader library.

@planetzomax Lol yeah! I haven't watched his course but I'm not surprised that he's doing it. Every senior+ I talked to had done it one way or another in their career, especially before PBR and ubershaders slowly silenced "abnormal" approaches.

@JollyL13 @GojiFan_78 Comparons les films 10 ans après l'apparition des caméras et SW2 passera pour un chef d'œuvre. La vérité c'est que l'argument ne tient plus depuis que le VFX est à un niveau tel qu'il dépend des réals plus que de la tech, t'obligeant à choisir un film de 24 ans comme "standard".

@JollyL13 @GojiFan_78 C'est pas une excuse puisqu'il n'y a rien à excuser. Les puppet de 1920 au début du domaine pourraient être la cible des même critiques face au Grogu moderne. En 2001 Final Fantasy The Spirit Within était un chef d'oeuvre de réalisme et personne ne le trouvait moche.

@PrismalDesign @GojiFan_78 Bah le fait qu'à peu près tout le monde soit d'accord pour dire qu'il a très mal vieilli et qu'il était déjà moche à l'époque 🤷J'entends que la technologie balbutiait, mais je vois pas en quoi c'est une excuse ; ça confirme que c'était pas une bonne idée d'en utiliser autant.

@GojiFan_78 @JollyL13 Yeah it's just nitpicking the single worst example they can find. There is zero correlation between quantity and quality. The Witcher, a TV Show that isn't 24 years old, had 8,100 VFX shots and it looked so good there were articles saying some of the creatures are practical.
