I don't love images attached to poetry because I think the art is that you draw your own in your mind from my words overlayed with your experiences. That intersection is what you see. That said, this image hit me. Ballroom they think the memorable part is the dress, the money, the room full of expensive teeth pretending not to stare. it isn’t. it’s the way two people can look starving with a thousand people around them. his hand on her face like he’s trying to keep the world from taking her back. her gripping the fabric at her hip like she already knows every good thing slips. and somewhere behind them the party keeps moving the way parties do. drunk people. small talk. another glass breaking somewhere. but right there in the center of it is that old human trick: finding one mouth in all the noise and treating it like oxygen.

If you want to thank a veteran this memorial day, don't thank us for our service. That's trite. Not one service member feels gratitude from your words. Don't make us stand up at work, or single us out on fucking conference calls. Thank us by voting better human beings into office. The kind of people who push for the version of America we fought for, for the people we fought for. Vote for the kind of people who protect the services veterans use. The ones who defend and fund programs for mental health, for medical care, for integrating returning troops. Cause that isnt fucking Trump, and it isn't fucking billionaires, and both of those have managed to fuck over all of us while you graciously thank me and then forget we exist.

flinch no one knows how to love me because they do not know love like me. that does not mean i know more. no. just different. i was taught love different. they love me as hard as they can and i keep searching their hands for the condition. love was earned. for obedience. for choosing correctly. for becoming what someone else needed. for being worthy. love was reward. leverage. temporary. so when someone loves me freely it terrifies me. i wait for the invoice. the trapdoor. the blade in the ribs hidden inside the kindness. and the tragedy is i cannot receive their love because i do not know what that is. so i stay. they try to teach me their love is safe. and when it isn’t, i flinch the next time it’s shown.

what remains the stars do not answer, they burn above us like wounds that never learned to close. I could tell you you're beautiful. say I’ll be good. say I’ll stay. but I won't, and I can't. I'll wither without your thighs around me, your breath in my mouth, but I also want silence and space, and the kind of sleep that doesn’t come with guilt. fuck, you smell like hope that I haven’t earned yet. so if you seek kindness keep walking, but if you seek the truth it’s here, hard and hungry, with a hand on your hip and nothing left to promise.

Marketplace ten thousand women posting demands for a lover they themselves could never satisfy. “protect me.” “provide for me.” “validate me.” “see me.” “never leave.” spoken by people who bring nothing but appetites and expectations. everybody wants to be adored. nobody cares if they are worth the fucking trouble.

@TheWand36470391 @AzPetrich Then his wealth is even less self-made than people pretend, isn’t it? You just described thousands of workers, public infrastructure, supply chains, and consumer spending creating value, then acting like one guy personally manifested it into existence.

@Prison_yard_DMs @AzPetrich One of the things that create that value ARE the jobs. Or rather the product of the work done by the employee doing the job. Depending on how you think of it it’s being double counted. But bezos wealth is not dollars, it’s employees, infrastructure, and inventory.

@ill_tempered_ @AzPetrich Did you just ask me to balance the federal budget because I commented on a guy who has more wealth than 40% of americans combined that wants to have more money?

@Prison_yard_DMs @AzPetrich The federal government skims about 17% off of the economy every year to feed itself. What percentage do you think would be right? Like…$5.2T in revenue isn’t enough for them to do what you want…what do you think the number is?

@bm_ster @Kdyub33 @AzPetrich if you understand what an effective tax rate is, then what you just said is pretty fucking daft. If you dont, then i'm sure you're a genius.

The sun spends himself searching for the moon, burning gold across the horizon only to miss her by minutes. He reaches for her in every dawn, every ruined evening, staining the sky with the colours of almost. And the moon, pale thing, keeps tugging entire oceans toward what cannot touch her. She lingers in borrowed light, carrying proof of him across the dark without ever holding him. Every so often the light between them bends strangely enough for the world to believe they have finally touched. But eclipses are only beautiful because they do not last.

Well, for starter, dont worry. I work in the field. Detection engines are weak signal for most universities, because there are mountains of data showing false positives. Some detectors have flagged the consitution, Shakespeare, the bible, etc. It is a statistical inference, not a strict pattern match. Wait and see what happens next.

I mean, fine for fantasy romance novels or whatever. Im more swinging wider and worried this happens for the classics or period pieces or autobiographical accounts or morality stories. I think it's sanitizing into I will consume nothing that challenges my comfort -- and we lose a lot with that.

No, I think it's good it's there. It's not about preferences. It's about things that can trigger anxiety or panic attacks. You can decide if you want to read the trigger warnings. For example, if I see a trigger warning about spiking I either try to find out how detailed it is or just don't read it.

You're fucking full of shit. If this nonsense is true, then the job creators argument cannot be true. You cannot simultaneously claim the wealth is real enough to justify massive economic and political influence, but fictional the second anyone suggests taxing it. Billionaires borrow against that “fictitious” wealth, leverage it into ownership, influence markets with it, buy competitors with it, and pass it to heirs with it. Funny how it becomes imaginary only when the tax bill arrives.

@Prison_yard_DMs @AzPetrich There is a reason for that. It’s because that wealth is largely fictitious. If you started taxing it it would vanish quickly. And with it would be all the jobs it supports.
