To be clear - I don’t want to ban trans-identifying men from women’s spaces because they pretend to be women, I want them banned because they are men, and thus a potential threat. Women’s spaces are not a luxury. They exist for our safety, because it’s impossible to know whether or not any given man is a threat just by looking at him — even if he’s wearing a dress. There is not one single, solitary shred of evidence to even suggest that men who identify as women are less of a threat to women’s safety than other men. On the other hand, there are whole penal systems’ worth of evidence that indicates the exact opposite: trans identifying male inmates are 5x more likely to be imprisoned for a sex offense, and 7x more likely to have been a sex offender, period. I’m lowballing, btw — and no, I’m not talking about convictions for sex work. These crimes have victims, and those victims are overwhelmingly women and children. The bottom line here is that when men have access to vulnerable women, women get raped and sexually exploited. Even if a given man is not himself actively predatory, his presence in women’s spaces helps to normalize the presence of men who are. It is wrong — it is morally reprehensible — to put other people in danger so that you can get what you want. It is morally repugnant to put others at risk without their consent in order to protect yourself — and yet that is precisely what the trans-identifying male community is doing. Make no mistake: these full-grown men are — at the very least — putting women and girls at greater risk of rape, sexual assault, sexual exploitation, and even death, all for the sake of their own personal safety. And that’s the most charitable interpretation of their behavior. In reality, the better part of their intrusion into our spaces and their theft of our rights is driven by their fetishistic desire to be seen and treated as female, and much of their behavior in women’s spaces is sexual and inappropriate. It ranges from masturbation in stalls and common areas, often filmed, and with unsuspecting, unconsenting women in the background — faces visible, ofc — to the theft of used menstrual waste from bathroom trash cans for masturbatory purposes, to full-on physical and sexual assault. Little girls have been dragged into stalls and raped at knifepoint; women have been brutally assaulted for telling men to leave women’s bathrooms; and men have been filmed standing calmly in line for a stall in the ladies’ with a visible erection under their skirts. This is completely and utterly unacceptable. Women deserve at least some space that is free from danger, and from male sexual exploitation. All we want is to be able to use the fvcking bathroom in peace and safety. Is that really so much to ask?

This is Rachel Diamond. She works at @MidYorkshireNHS . Where I was violently Sexually assaulted in A&E, kept in injected, drugged, and r@ped at night in a private sideroom. Rachel gaslit me in my second meeting with CEO Len Richards. She kept telling me that no males were involved. I was left in tears. Rachel perverted the course of justice to West Yorkshire Police fabricating my clinical timeline.

It seems literally impossible for certain trans activists to grasp that not everything is about them. The only rape crisis centre in Edinburgh prior to the opening of Beira’s Place was run by a trans-identified man who publicly told potential service-users they would be ‘challenged on their bigotry’ if they didn’t agree he was a woman. Meanwhile a ‘non-binary’ man subsequently convicted of rape, and found by the sentencing judge to harbour serious hostility towards women, was permitted to access the centre’s services. Trans-identified men in Edinburgh were better served than women when it came to accessing support after rape or sexual assault. Beira’s Place, which I founded and fund in its entirety, gives women a choice. The female-led, female-centred model of support is provably preferred by most female survivors. We know for a fact that some of our service-users didn’t seek help before we opened, because they didn’t want a male providing their therapy, or for men to be accessing what they needed to feel was a completely safe space. However, if a woman was happy with a male support worker, or with males also using the service, she could of course choose the alternative rape crisis centre. Some men, trans-identified and not, disagree that even the most vulnerable and traumatised women should be allowed to exclude men from rape crisis centres, yet many women see a male-free space and service as the last or only chance of putting their lives back together. It takes immense courage even to pick up the phone to access help after rape. Yet, even at their worst moment, these women told by activists like Willoughby that their priority should be centering his feelings, pandering to his ‘identity’ and pretending that they don’t recognise his narcissism and aggression as a quintessentially male response to not being given what he wants, by women. The simple truth is that no decent male, however they identify, would ever seek to breach the boundaries of women whose sense of self and safety has been shattered by their experience of male violence or rape. 98% of sexual predators are male. 88% of sexual crime victims are female. Beira’s Place exists because I saw an unmet need and the fact that we’ve been so busy since we’ve opened proves, not that women hate trans-identified men, but that this is where women feel safe enough to deal with trauma they might otherwise have had to carry with them forever.
