My friend Dom, a bright star who inspired countless people in global surgery, created the field of global cardiac surgery & led the charge on advocacy as we know it on Twitter, is gone way too soon. My prayers are with his family & loved ones. He will forever be an inspiration

Dom lives forever!🙏 Global community remains deeply grateful for his legacy #GlobalSurgery work. It shaped the journeys of countless individuals (and mine) striving to deliver safe, affordable surgical care worldwide, saving millions of lives. May his warm soul rest in peace 🌸

The world has lost a shining light. @DVervoort94 walked this world with grace, compassion, and a deep passion for health equity. We are heartbroken to have lost Dom and are grieving with his family and all those around the world who knew him and loved him.

“I remember my professor of statistics once told me that if you torture numbers enough, they will confess to statistical significance the way you like it. And that holds true for a lot of things, and with AI also, it is only as good as the data we feed it.” – Dr. Manthan Mehta

Burundi, a country with over 6 million children, did not have a single paediatric surgeon to care for them. 😓 🙌 Unil Dr. Alliance & Dr. Carlos. Kids Operating Room supported their training - and these 2 brilliant doctors are now back in #Burundi and saving children's lives 🇧🇮

📍Assessing Perioperative Practice Adherence to Enhanced Recovery After Surgery (ERAS) Recommendations In Elective Bowel Anastomosis Surgery (ARIES Study) Join the ARIES Study under the IND Surg Collaborative (since 2020), a sub-initiative of the World Health Organization Collaborating Centre (WHO-CC) for Emergency, Critical and Operative Care, headquartered at The George Institute for Global Health, New Delhi ☀️ Why is it important? Despite global evidence supporting ERAS improving patient outcomes by optimising pre-operative, intra-operative, and postoperative practices, its implementation and adherence in low- and middle-income countries (LMICs) remain inconsistent, including India. ☀️ Why to join ARIES Study? • Benchmark your practices against LMIC-specific ERAS guidelines • Gain national visibility through a multi-centre collaborative study • Identify gaps in peri-operative care without altering routine workflows • Build capacity for future quality improvement ERAS initiatives with IndSurg Collaborative • Collaborate with leading centres and join India’s largest surgical ERAS practice audit • No interventions required – purely observational and ethics-supported ☀️ We invite “All” hospitals to join. Register for the study using the Expression of Interest (EOI) link: forms.gle/uZPfoUWXbf15Yz… For further details contact us at indsurg1@gmail.com
