@GreatDayTarHeel Nothing overly special, C+. Avdalas looks more bust than boom. Able could develop into a nice player if he gets minutes and shots. Neoklis Avdalas - B- Matt Able - C+ Terrance Brown - C Maxim Logue - D

With recruits, returning players, and transfer portal signings, I can feel us slip sliding away from Duke, Carolina, Louisville, Miami etc.

The wait is over. Utah transfer guard Terrence Brown has officially committed to #UNC. He’s Michael Malone’s second pickup in the portal alongside Neoklis Avdalas. New PG1 in Chapel Hill? 👀

Don’t be surprised if by the end of the week UNC’s starting lineup is set. It’s looking more and more like it could be: Terrence Brown Neo Avdalas Matt Able Jarin Stevenson Henri Veesaar In my opinion, this is a preseason top ten team in the country and with the right coaching can win a national championship.

@LeeFouler Donovan didn't want the UNC job. It wouldn't surprise me if he takes some time off from coaching.

Maybe UNC did want Malone more than Donovan. Or maybe Donovan wants to stay in the nba and wasn’t ever a serious candidate at UNC. Your thoughts?

@LupusBeowulf Yeah I question the value of a high volume/low efficiency scorer from a bad team. And the fit, is everyone supposed to stand around and watch this guy drive?

He was the 93rd most efficient player in the big 12. He averaged 20 points but it took him 16 shots a game. There's a reason Utah went 2-16 and ended up dead last ... Big dawg!

@WilliamMcCall_ Proven commodities? Avdalas had a disappointing season at VT and Brown is a high volume/low efficiency scorer on a bad team. Hubert was going into season with preseason All-Americans like Bacot and RJ Davis.

An underrated part about Malone so far is that he’s bringing in mostly proven commodity’s rather than high risk high reward guys like Hubert. Both can work but one will likely equal consistency.

@Aaron_Torres It's clear he didn't want the UNC job. This narrative that he screwed up and lost everything is ridiculous.

This dude could've been the North Carolina coach but got stubborn and refused to entertain the offer until the season ended. Now he's out. Hmm, wonder if there might be another big job (or two) in college hoops open in the next year or so 🤔 🤔

@joeovies Donovan wasn't feeling the UNC job, he made that clear. If Malone turns out to be a good hire, they backed into it. Not because they were "smart".

Which is why the position that some people took, that Newmark "panicked" in hiring Malone, was a bad one. Why do this dumb dance with Billy when UNC needs to get on the ball right now? Again, the Malone hire was a smart one in the end.

Billy Donovan didn't misplay his hand. He didn't want to come to UNC and he didn't want to stay in Chicago. Both can be true.

HOT TAKE: UNC AD Steve Newmark made the right call to move off Donovan and hire Malone. Clearly misplayed his hand in Chicago here.
