@IshtarAcademix @crock0dial Like 16gb? Which is nice. Definitely a lot of audio in the game but really slim for what the game is and saving a tiny bit of space across the loot pool items could add up to smthn
English

@ProWarAdvocate @crock0dial How big is the game file? Surely the world textures and effects take up vastly more space than any sprite system ever could
English

@IshtarAcademix @crock0dial Saving space as it's a pretty Immediately readable design without needing close inspection
English

@crock0dial Someone explain to me why the sprites are like 8 pixels

@Pirat_Nation Despite heavy odds and a shit reveal Marathon is too good for even haters to accept resorting to conspiracies the size of the Brooklyn bridge about paid critics and fans with their best evidence being a faked discord screenshot lmao, crimson desert’s p cool but marathon’s great

Travis Northup, the IGN reviewer who gave Crimson Desert a 6 and Marathon a 9, is asking his editor for a re-review.
He is busy getting into fights with people on X about his scores.
He eventually concedes that Crimson Desert deserves another review and claims to have asked his editor for another crack at it.

@Tuggernut4 @GameRant nd hard to pull off and balance in a way that doesn’t unbalance or even ruin the game easily
English

@Tuggernut4 @GameRant Yea just an easy example off my dome, but yes innovation is good but balanced with refinement is imo by far best for a well rounded fun game which marathon more than does well, extractions can seem like a trend as more come out but it’s not really given that they’re quite niche a
English

After almost a month with Marathon, it feels safe to say that Bungie's new Sci-Fi extraction shooter should be considered a new multiplayer great. gamerant.com/marathon-revie…

English

@Tuggernut4 @GameRant I do agree the industry needs more innovation but shooters are a pretty narrow field, lots to get right and balance so what’s wrong with a game doing something that exists just in a very refined way? Battlefield tried 128 after older devs avoided it that proved that refinement >>
English

@ProWarAdvocate @GameRant Look bro if this is your first shooter I get it. But I've been playing FPS games since the 90s, Marathon does nothing to stand out.
English

@glorpinity @giancar73012035 Setting a new standard for communication/fixes for an online game it’s wild even considering that Bungie knows of the image issues with the game
English

@gdinmatt @Tuggernut4 @GameRant “It is impossible to like a game I have never played I am right you are wrong I win bye bye” is an interesting argument lolol I’m sure your English grades were interesting
English

@ProWarAdvocate @Tuggernut4 @GameRant The game is shit. You have literally nothing to disprove that. Like there is zero chance it will survive more than 3 months in this state.
English

@krausader IGN when a game gets a 7 or higher when game your groupthink likes gets a 6 (you know the hyped game I mean is) gets a 6 in comparison from a completely different reviewer you draw pitchforks. There are issues with these outlets but comparison is just looking to get mad
English

@Deadite98 @krausader There are issues with big game journo outlets somewhat industry wide but distilling it down to game to game score comparisons is ignoring the issue that they have hundreds of reviewers with different taste which is why small journos/independents are good to track but blaming 1/2
English

One of the worst side effects of the last decade is doubling down in the face of new information. Rather than reconsidering their position people give way to conspiracies and back alley payoffs. Anything to avoid considering you could be wrong. What a sad/angry existence.

Marathon is a ruthless and unforgiving extraction shooter that’s worth every ounce of hell it puts you through. Our review: bit.ly/4lYeHlV
English

@Tuggernut4 @GameRant Unoriginality clams coming from a crimson desert enjoyer is pretty rich lol, you know people can disagree and like things more than you? Shocking I know; to answer your rhetorical it was shit reveal (their fault) and the fact that the game is in a hardcore genre like hunt: s etc.
English

@GameRant Yeah Sony has to be paying for these reviews because its literally not doing anything new and the gameplay is fine at best. If it is so great why is nobody playing it? I spent $40 on it and have no urge to return after just 2 hours... Its fine at best and its time to accept it.
English

@Terranaes @signalpestt Yea it works better than I thought but still don’t “mesh” with the normal soldiers too well far better than most of the store/bo skins tho, there’s obviously more artists than military gear fans making designs lol
English

@signalpestt Game is a good bit better on especially fundamental shooting/mechanic feel levels but the map rotation is very samey even if you’re a newbie sameness is killing retention, even variants in size have safe predictable flows, 2042 has plenty of lame maps even post rework but varied
English

@facsimileglib @itsSodahh @volcomstone752 @Halo @fanta It’s an optional skin for your 1st person model in the campaign, it’s completely optional again like a silky resident evil unlock costume, I get the hate for multiplayer but this is harmless as it’s only the campaign
English

@itsSodahh @volcomstone752 @Halo @fanta I just don't understand this mentality where we should just compromise an aesthetic for advertising dollars and then the audience is enthusiastic about it, seems ridiculous.
English

@System_Glitchin @IGN Not tolerating any art by eccentric people is extremely anti-art although I do agree the 4th movie was terrible (arguably intentionally as a cynical movie but still) and they’ve fallen off in skill sense. Don’t get how that impacts matrix other than their interpretation 1/2
English

@IGN These weirdos ruined the matrix for me. They are both mentally unwell.

@imsnafu @Gokuthegrate @horrorvisuals Yep Sony’s really helped marketing but they aren’t riding on it like some people think (unlike concord) because they know what this game is. Bungie’s in a bad spot because so much manpower on d2 means that it’s hard to make new projects even at marathon’s level, d3 will be hard
English

@ProWarAdvocate @Gokuthegrate @horrorvisuals if anything there's a huge question of what the rest of the team was doing outside of working on Marathon, whether Sony were fine with them throwing out a passion project then launching D3 a while later, or they had all their eggs in Marathon doing well which I doubt.
English

Well deserved. Marathon is on another level compared to the rest of the niche it’s catering towards.
It’s high risk, high reward, gorgeous, and blood boiling unlike anything else. Easily my favorite game this year.

English

@teutonicmexican @snowflakeflamer @emeriticus Oh ok this explains a lot. You can dislike the art style but you just didn’t engage with the game and got shit on and blamed because you’re sheltered. Tragic!
English

@snowflakeflamer @emeriticus Marathons backpack management system gave me a headache and the art is gay. I lasted half a match and didn’t even shoot a runner
English

Marathon is great. There's no conspiracy. You can just look at Steam reviews, which your "game" does not have, because you raised like 600K for it over the last decade and still have not finished it. Maybe you should work on that or getting the money back to your supporters instead of doing this culture war bit all day.

Grummz@Grummz
Seriously IGN, WTF is wrong with you? They just dropped their final review score for Marathon. 9/10, a month after launch. Crimson Desert final score after a week of time? 6 Why did they give Marathon an extra month? You know why. Game journos are actually racist.
English

@teutonicmexican @emeriticus Clearly its players don’t think that even if the game doesn’t have an impressive playerbase why would they jump to a much more casual game??? People like marathon’s depth and skill curve you don’t know what you’re talking about
English

@Gokuthegrate @horrorvisuals That doesn't sound bad phrased like that but I mean gutting them to force them to make whatever they want/would like their first party live service flops
English

@Gokuthegrate @horrorvisuals I'm hoping Sony is just going to accept that they basically got scammed by the execs over-evaluating Bungie and will help put them on a track to do well over time instead of setting crazy goals and forcing them to do something like a safe shooter type game have a halo-type for ps
