@seethroughit2 Some serious horshoeing going on here. They all might suck (to widely varying extents), but let's not lose our fucking heads here. Candace et al might be crazy but they never lead a century of political lobbying efforts to steal billions of your country's tax dollars, etc etc

I genuinely don't like Zionism It feels gross obsessing over some foreign desert country's ancient real estate drama while I'm just trying to live and thrive in my own country But every time Sneako starts talking about the Khazar theory, Candace calls Israel a satanic state and drinks baby blood and Stew screams about the microphone assassination, I catch myself thinking “maybe Israel isn’t that bad if these three are their sworn enemies.”

@RepDonBacon @RyanMNeuhaus This is like watching a sci-fi movie where the old robot is completely outclassed by the next batch except like 8 cycles through. “I support farmers, what are you a Democrat” as everyone rolls their eyes at the old, ineffective programming, shut the fuck up

@RepDonBacon @RyanMNeuhaus Excuse me Bacon, but when has full amnesty for this segment of the population NOT been what dems want? That has for many decades been the Dem Platform. How can you even pretend otherwise? You seem to be crossing your UniParty wires here for the sake of hollow MAGA rhetoric.

Breaking: @novonordisk Novo Nordisk, the Danish pharma that makes Ozempic has been hacked, and all GLP-1 manufacturing processes stolen and now being auctioned by hackers. Much more confidential data was stolen by hackers. The genius $400B pharma had a password "novo123" safeguarding their secret data portal. Among other things, it was revealed that a gene therapy RNAi portfolio that they purchased for $3.3B is total bullshit, and they can't replicate the results! You can't make this up! 🤣🤣🤣👇 The info from hackers is posted here:ransomware.live/id/Tm92byBOb3J…

@altez83 @lucymarionbrown You bet. He's bragged about grooming women, actually I believe they were underage so girls would be more appropriate. And he's said that having sex with a tranny is less gay than with a not as hot actual woman. So I think it's far to say he's not all that Based.

Tate spiked his victims who woke up to him raping them while unconscious after strangling them so hard their eyeball capillaries burst. He also targeted teenagers from low income families specifically. That is what Tommy Robinson’s “Christ is King” gang are defending right now.

Here is the full list of charges against the Tate brothers, along with some of the crypto scams they promoted. US Marshals have arrested them on a British extradition warrant. Somehow, people are still defending these men as misunderstood masculinity influencers who merely offended the wrong people. This stopped being about offensive podcasts a long time ago. Here is the actual record. ➡️ United Kingdom The Crown Prosecution Service now wants both brothers extradited over a combined 59 criminal charges involving 7 alleged victims. Andrew Tate faces 42 charges in total. The original 10 charges comprise 3 counts of rape, 4 counts of assault occasioning actual bodily harm, 2 counts of human trafficking and 1 count of controlling prostitution for gain. The newly announced 32 charges comprise 7 further counts of rape, 3 counts of arranging or facilitating trafficking for sexual exploitation, 3 further counts of assault occasioning actual bodily harm and 19 offences relating to indecent images of a child and extreme pornography. Tristan Tate faces 17 charges in total. The original 11 comprise 3 counts of rape, 6 counts of assault occasioning actual bodily harm and 2 counts of human trafficking. The additional 6 comprise 2 further counts of rape, 1 count of sexual assault and 3 counts of arranging or facilitating trafficking for sexual exploitation. The additional alleged offences occurred between July 2010 and August 2017. Both men deny the allegations, and the charges still have to be tested in court. That legal presumption matters, but it does not magically erase the charges or turn every prosecutor into part of an imaginary “Matrix.” Andrew also faces a separate British civil claim from 4 women who accuse him of rape, physical abuse and coercive control. He denies those allegations. In another civil case, a British court allowed police to seize almost £2.7 million from the brothers and an associate after finding that tax had not been paid on approximately £21 million in revenue generated through their online businesses. ➡️ Romania Both brothers were indicted in Romania in 2023 over allegations that they formed an organised criminal group and trafficked women for sexual exploitation. Andrew was also charged with rape. Prosecutors said the alleged victims were recruited through false promises of relationships before being controlled and forced to produce pornographic material. In December 2024, a Romanian appeals court returned that case to prosecutors because of procedural and evidentiary defects. Tate supporters constantly describe this as an acquittal. It was not. The court did not find them innocent. It found that the prosecution file could not proceed to trial in its existing form. A broader Romanian investigation involving the brothers and several other suspects has examined alleged participation in an organised criminal group, human trafficking, trafficking of minors, sexual intercourse with a minor and money laundering. In May 2026, prosecutors expanded the investigation into Andrew Tate to include alleged incitement to hatred or discrimination against women, based on public statements made between 2021 and 2024. Romanian reporting on a further DIICOT expansion in July 2026 also described allegations involving witness influence, the removal of assets from seizure and complicity in trafficking minors. These investigations remain ongoing and have not produced final convictions. ➡️ United States The Miami arrest is not a newly announced American prosecution for sexual offences. US Marshals arrested the brothers on behalf of Britain so that extradition proceedings can begin. Florida nevertheless opened its own criminal investigation after the brothers entered the state in 2025. The Florida attorney general announced that subpoenas and search warrants had been issued, although I could find no publicly announced Florida indictment as of July 19, 2026. Andrew Tate is also being sued in California by a former girlfriend who alleges that he sexually assaulted, beat and strangled her at the Beverly Hills Hotel. That is a civil case, not a criminal conviction, and Tate denies the allegations. ➡️ Then there is crypto The documented promotion pattern is exactly the kind of influencer driven extraction Web3 has spent years pretending not to recognise. One example is $DADDY. Approximately 40% of the supply was transferred to Andrew Tate’s public wallet. He promised not to sell it and later promoted a supposed burn worth more than $100 million, although the token reportedly had only around $2.5 million in real liquidity. 11 wallets funded through Binance that purchased large positions immediately before Tate publicly promoted the token. The wallets bought at nearly identical times and in similar amounts, strongly suggesting coordinated control. Two further clusters accumulated roughly 10% of the supply before the promotion. The token’s developer had extracted more than $400,000 through sales. Other Tate promotions include $RNT, $GER or $GERMANY, $ROOST, $FTRISTAN, $TOPG, $SLUTS and $TATE. All rugged. A connected wallet cluster controlled around 30% of $GER before it fell roughly 99%. $ROOST collapsed by more than 90% and its treasury was later compromised. $FTRISTAN, $TOPG, $RNT and $DADDY also suffered losses exceeding 90% from their peaks. $SLUTS appeared around one of Tate’s viral posts with almost no credible project information, no transparent team. During a livestream, Tate demonstrated that merely mentioning or mocking a token could cause speculators to flood into it. Around $2 million was poured into coins created around his comments about a journalist within hours, while vastly larger sums moved through other tokens associated with his posts. Tate himself wrote that having the power to pump almost any coin was “super fun.” The people buying the top were apparently expected to enjoy the lesson. In July 2026, Tate sold an entire allocation of roughly 650 million $TATE tokens for about $23,000 after previously presenting himself as a committed holder. It was simply another perfect demonstration of how influencer conviction works once somebody else has supplied the liquidity. Here, we are only talking about memecoins. The whole thing goes much further, but let’s leave it there for now.

Meet your CDC nominee who “believes” in vaccines. One day we will get someone who thinks critically about instead of believing in and worshiping these products. When we do, the CDC might begin to care about all Americans—not just those who may be harmed by an infectious disease, but also those seriously harmed by these products.

@lucymarionbrown It really is complicated. Tate is obviously a serious felon who deserves to be in prison. Although the prioritization of his arrest over much bigger criminals that are running free is also absurd. We say it all the time, but we don't say it enough... This is world is a shitshow.

@samtripoli “How good the movie was” Bro stfu 🤣 there’s full scenes posted already & it’s pretty fucking meh. I’ve heard MULTIPLE ppl saying the writing is awful; Dialogue, modernizations that hurt the immersion etc. Nolan peaked with Prestige probably though I never saw it. Ppl love it 🤷‍♂️

They used it as promotion. Everyone yelling and screaming on the internet got the word out about the movie, ramped up its reach and then when people went and saw it they were blown away by how good the movie was. I feel bad for people who don't see it in the movie theater. They will be missing out on what it felt like to go the movie way back in the day when Hollywood put out great movies.

These are facts about The Odyssey. Which begs the question: Why were the actors so prominent in the advertising for this film?

@samtripoli I love Sam's attempts to be nonpartisan. But here it's in service of a major Hollywood movie during it's opening week which--even if it isn't half bad--is nothing essential. I'd even argue that promoting such a thing when there are very real concerns in the world is a little odd

Archaeo - Histories
Archaeo - Histories@archeohistories·
Homer’s epic poems, including The Odyssey, are fundamentally works of fiction built upon centuries of fluid oral tradition rather than rigorous historical documentation. The stories were composed during the Greek Iron Age, roughly four hundred years after the Late Bronze Age setting of the Trojan War. Because of this massive temporal gap, the foundational text itself is a patchwork of mythological elements, exaggerated heroics, and historical anachronisms. Any visual adaptation of these epics is inherently interpreting a heavily stylized myth rather than a grounded historical event, making the pursuit of strict chronological accuracy somewhat paradoxical from a narrative perspective. If a production were to actually pursue pure archaeological accuracy for the Mycenaean era, the visual result would likely alienate modern audiences. Warriors from the 15th century BCE utilized heavy, cumbersome equipment like the Dendra panoply, a massive, cylindrical suit of articulated bronze plates that essentially encased a soldier from neck to knee. Paired with a conical helmet painstakingly crafted from slivers of boar tusks, this authentic armor was designed for specific styles of chariot warfare or static infantry clashes. While structurally fascinating from an archaeological standpoint, these bulky defensive suits completely lack the sleek, romanticized aesthetic typically associated with ancient heroes. In visual storytelling, creators consistently prioritize audience expectations, dynamic action, and visual appeal over rigid archaeological precision. Modern viewers have been conditioned to associate ancient Greek heroism with the aesthetics of the later Classical or Hellenistic periods, featuring muscular silhouettes, leather bracers, flowing capes, and plumed Corinthian helmets. Equipping a leading actor in a historically accurate, restrictive bronze tube would not only make choreographed combat sequences nearly impossible to execute, but it would also shatter the established visual language that keeps an audience engaged. Consequently, productions intentionally lean into familiar, stylized designs to maximize emotional resonance and viewer retention. While Christopher Nolan’s newly released 2026 cinematic adaptation of The Odyssey is a massive $250 million blockbuster, a lesser-known behind-the-scenes fact is that Nolan entirely avoided using green-screen visual effects for the production. Instead, he chose to shoot the epic exclusively on IMAX 70mm film—utilizing two million feet of film stock—and constructed fully authentic, physical props, including a massive Trojan horse and Odysseus's ship, to capture the ancient world practically in-camera. As for the original Homeric epic that inspired the film, a surprisingly obscure fact is that The Odyssey does not actually contain the definitive end of its protagonist's journey; Odysseus's ultimate fate was detailed in a lost ancient sequel poem called the Telegony, which dramatically concludes with the aging king being accidentally killed by Telegonus, his illegitimate son with the sorceress Circe, who unknowingly strikes him down using a bizarre spear tipped with the poisonous spine of a stingray. #archaeohistories

Our World in Data
Our World in Data@OurWorldInData·
Fertility rates across many countries have converged, despite starting from very different levels. (This Data Insight was written by @_HannahRitchie.) In the thirty years since I was born, fertility rates in my country, the United Kingdom, have not changed much. In 1993, the fertility rate was 1.8 births per woman. Thirty years later, it had dropped only slightly, to 1.6 births. Elsewhere, the change has been much more dramatic; fertility rates have dropped sharply and are now similar to those in the UK. You can see this in the chart, which shows the change in fertility rates from 1993 (in blue) to 2023 (in red). In Qatar and Iran, rates dropped from almost 4 births per woman to 1.7. Fertility rates have fallen a lot across Asia and South America, too — Malaysia and Colombia are two examples. This marks a much faster demographic transition than many countries experienced historically. Convergence isn’t the whole story, though. Here, I’ve picked countries with fertility rates that are similar to the UK’s today. But some have fallen far below these levels: in Chile and Thailand, the fertility rate was 1.2 births per woman in 2023, and may have fallen even further.
