The evidence for a lab leak is more or less that there was a massive cover up by the Chinese government. You can read the analysis! The people who actually fucking look at the virus overwhelmingly think it looks zoonotic

The question is whether it got introduced to Wuhan because an infected animal was brought there to eat… or an infected animal was brought there for research.

But it also eroded trust in the CDC and WHO.
Whether that trade off was worth it is a real debate.
But that trade off was made.
