@MattLeeNewby Right, but they usually are… for example, the 2008-10 specials have Series 4 production codes, The Snowmen and The Return of Doctor Mysterio were filmed slap bang in the middle of series production, idk why this is so hard to understand? Specials are very, very rarely separate.

Are the 1st, 10th and 13th Doctors the only Doctors to have at least one Dalek story for each of their multiple seasons/series?

I've still not bought the Season 2 steelbook because I just can't justify spending £60 on a series I don't like, and £60 for 9 eps is daylight robbery. It's currently the only one I don't have 😂

I watched Dot and Bubble and Rogue this morning and I really enjoyed them. It also made me realise how much stronger a series as a whole Season 1 is compared to Season 2. Like there's eps I really don't like but the series feels stronger and fresher than Season 2.

@MattV07095826 For sure, idk why they thought two goofy episodes on the same night was a winning formula 😂 especially for people to then be up at midnight watching them back to back

@ProductionsJAW I mean since they release two episodes together all I think they needed to do was swap one of them out for a more serious story. So they could have started with Space Babies and Boom or The Devil's Chord and Dot & Bubble, something like that.

Realistically there’s no good episode to start that series on. SB and TDC are too silly to take seriously, Boom is too heavy, 73 and DaB don’t have the two of them in, and Rogue would be too soon for a Doctor love interest, but maybe the easiest starting point.
MrTARDIS@TrilbeeReviews

I still attest that 'Space Babies' is an okay episode. It's just fine. But as a *Season Opener*? Really bad move. 'Doctor Who' can do weird, zany stuff but I don't think you should open with it during a worldwide relaunch. Opening Season 1 with 'Boom'? That's the smarter play.

@BenjaminDa74767 @twisty_skylar Which in itself is interesting given they filmed about a year in advance (starting S1 filming in December 2022). The block that SB was in started filming in March 2023 so there's like 14 months between SB filming and releasing. Almost 18 months for 73 Yards.

@twisty_skylar Given the way TCORR ends and SB opens it's baffling as to why that wasn't the case. Instead we end up with a near 5 month gap to pick up at the same moment we left off on 😂

@ProductionsJAW Unless the sacrifice is no Christmas Special and TCORR should’ve been episode one ? Or have the Christmas special be the kick off for a nine week run?

@MattLeeNewby -specials. But because of the circumstances, they CAN be their own thing because they can't be tied to any other series as they are sandwiched between specials.

@MattLeeNewby -Twice are Series 10, Resolution is Series 11, Revolution is Series 12, Eve, Legend and Power are Series 13. Ruby Road is Series 14/Season 1, Joy is Series 15/Season 2. The only ones that are now kind of in limbo because they are the only episodes that Doctor has are the 60th-

@BarryAldridge Fair enough, but I wouldn’t class The Eleventh Hour as a serious episode 😅 different strokes for different folks I guess

@ProductionsJAW Fair play to me I didn’t mind that as I feel I rather have the silly plot to introduce the doctor as you said but I felt it was a bit serious straight away the 11th hour and made me go with the finale okay it lost the impact. To me I rather grow from silly to serious.

@BarryAldridge I do think you can do both though. The Eleventh Hour is a good example of that. The issue is too silly and you’ve alienated them from the get go and they won’t come back, which is exactly what happened with Ncuti’s first season.

@ProductionsJAW I feel mainstream audiences need something fun to get the program and if too serious it can be a turn off for them. 2/2

@MixedOfTheNight -how we end up with the era we’ve just had. If the show took itself more seriously it would have a much better reputation than the one it currently has which arguably hasn’t been this bad since the 80s

@MixedOfTheNight -for no real reason. However, when you start alienating the fans, that’s the problem. And I do think at times this era was too silly. I definitely prefer when DW is darker. It’s just fundamentally more interesting to me. The idea that the show SHOULDNT take itself seriously is-
