Six asks. Eleven years of policy. One ledger. On 10–11 May, the Prime Minister asked Indians to give up six things in the national interest — cut petrol, defer foreign travel for a year, postpone gold, reduce edible oil, revive work from home, buy Indian. In a fuel crisis, none of these asks is unreasonable. The harder question is what eleven years of policy on each of these items was supposed to deliver, and what it actually did. The appeal, read carefully, is a confession. A new essay by Dr. Manmohan Singh Fellow Varna Sri Raman goes through the ledger, ask by ask. Read the full essay (7,300 words) here: policygrounds.press/post/1894594/E… Image notes continued in comment section. @Varna #IndianEconomy #PolicyAnalysis #FiscalPolicy #DevelopmentEconomics #IndiaPolitics #ModiGovernment #UnionBudget #IranWar #ForeignExchange #StrategicReserves #MakeInIndia #Aatmanirbharta #PolicyFailure #INC #Congress #AIPC #DrManmohanSinghFellows #IndianNationalCongress

Some in the Congress, and others, are gloating about TMC’s loss. They need to understand this clearly - the theft of Assam and Bengal’s mandate is a big step forward by the BJP in its mission to destroy Indian democracy. Put petty politics aside. This is not about one party or another. This is about 🇮🇳.

I travelled through Great Nicobar today. These are the most extraordinary forests I have ever seen in my life. Trees older than memory. Forests that took generations to grow. The people on this island are equally beautiful - both the adivasi communities and the settlers - but they are being robbed of what is rightfully theirs. The government calls what it is doing here a “Project.” What I have seen is not a project. It is millions of trees marked for the axe. It is 160 square kilometres of rainforest condemned to die. It is communities that have been ignored while their homes have been snatched away. This is not development. This is destruction dressed in development’s language. So I will say it plainly, and I will keep saying it: what is being done in Great Nicobar is one of the biggest scams and gravest crimes against this country’s natural and tribal heritage in our lifetime. It must be stopped. And it can be stopped - if Indians choose to see what I have seen.

The current wave of mass layoffs in tech has left many of us feeling vulnerable. But here’s the truth: being "on the bench" doesn't mean you're without a voice. As part of our AIPC’s Together for Tech Lives campaign, we’re hosting a special webinar to help IT/ITES professionals understand the legal ground they stand on. Whether you’ve been affected or want to be prepared, this session is for you. Featuring: Avani Chokshi (Labour Advocate, Bangalore) @VinodSubram @aipc4techlives

Accompanied a delegation of transgender, non-binary, and queer lawyers who met @INCIndia Rajya Sabha MP @RenukaCCongress yesterday evening in New Delhi. We thanked her for being an ally to the community in Parliament. On behalf of the @ProfCong LGBTQIA+ Domain, I shared details of the work we have been doing to challenge the repugnant Transgender Amendment Act in the states. Ms. Chowdhury listened to us patiently, and assured us of her continued support in our struggle. We will not rest until we have won this fight!

AIPC Civil Society and Policy Research AIPC Civil Society and Policy Research condemns the ongoing violence in Manipur since May 2023, which has displaced thousands, destroyed over 5,000 homes, and claimed more than 300 lives. The recent bomb blasts on April 7, 2026, in Bishnupur district that killed two children had sparked protests across the state while the government continues to remain ineffective in controlling the violence. We strongly urge the state and central governments to restore peace in the state. We stand in solidarity with civil society organisations who are fighting for peace and justice in the region. @NavikaHarshe @feroj_md40004
