@Anu_World1 Firing 12k senior pros via email isn't "restructuring"; it’s a liquidation of human capital to fund a $156B AI gamble. Taxing their exit at 30% while the company gets subsidies is the ultimate "thank you for your service" scam. The system isn't broken; it's just not yours.

4 out of every 10 employees impacted at Oracle are from India. The expected layoffs? 12,000 out of 30,000, and they’re not done yet. Most of those affected are mid- and senior-level professionals who gave 10–15 years of their lives to the company. Just imagine how much income tax they’ve paid over the years. And overnight, they’re out, with zero real support. To make it worse, even their severance pay gets taxed at normal slab rates. If that isn’t inhumane, what is?

@Anu_World1 This is the harsh reality of corporate life - loyalty is one-sided. You can give 15 years, but decisions get made in 15 minutes. What’s worse is not just the layoffs, but the lack of dignity in exit

Safe Harbour for Corporations, for laid off IT Professionals? Companies continue to claim severance as a 100% tax-deductible expense, while the State continues to Tax from the individual's safety net. Need 100% Tax Exemption on Severance Pay. @pravchak @nsitharaman @FinMinIndia

Last quarter I rolled out Microsoft Copilot to 4,000 employees. $30 per seat per month. $1.4 million annually. I called it "digital transformation." The board loved that phrase. They approved it in eleven minutes. No one asked what it would actually do. Including me. I told everyone it would "10x productivity." That's not a real number. But it sounds like one. HR asked how we'd measure the 10x. I said we'd "leverage analytics dashboards." They stopped asking. Three months later I checked the usage reports. 47 people had opened it. 12 had used it more than once. One of them was me. I used it to summarize an email I could have read in 30 seconds. It took 45 seconds. Plus the time it took to fix the hallucinations. But I called it a "pilot success." Success means the pilot didn't visibly fail. The CFO asked about ROI. I showed him a graph. The graph went up and to the right. It measured "AI enablement." I made that metric up. He nodded approvingly. We're "AI-enabled" now. I don't know what that means. But it's in our investor deck. A senior developer asked why we didn't use Claude or ChatGPT. I said we needed "enterprise-grade security." He asked what that meant. I said "compliance." He asked which compliance. I said "all of them." He looked skeptical. I scheduled him for a "career development conversation." He stopped asking questions. Microsoft sent a case study team. They wanted to feature us as a success story. I told them we "saved 40,000 hours." I calculated that number by multiplying employees by a number I made up. They didn't verify it. They never do. Now we're on Microsoft's website. "Global enterprise achieves 40,000 hours of productivity gains with Copilot." The CEO shared it on LinkedIn. He got 3,000 likes. He's never used Copilot. None of the executives have. We have an exemption. "Strategic focus requires minimal digital distraction." I wrote that policy. The licenses renew next month. I'm requesting an expansion. 5,000 more seats. We haven't used the first 4,000. But this time we'll "drive adoption." Adoption means mandatory training. Training means a 45-minute webinar no one watches. But completion will be tracked. Completion is a metric. Metrics go in dashboards. Dashboards go in board presentations. Board presentations get me promoted. I'll be SVP by Q3. I still don't know what Copilot does. But I know what it's for. It's for showing we're "investing in AI." Investment means spending. Spending means commitment. Commitment means we're serious about the future. The future is whatever I say it is. As long as the graph goes up and to the right.

DCM @DKShivakumar has set up an outreach committee for Bengaluru’s IT and industrial clusters, on which I serve as well. I will be engaging with industry leaders, think tanks and government officials to craft a focused, area-specific blueprint for the city’s key economic corridors. My first conversation was a CXO meet and townhall organised by @0RRCA along the Outer Ring Road corridor today. This stretch remains one of the most important economic engines of the country, home to a dense concentration of global companies, talent and tech campuses. We had a detailed interaction with industry leaders and senior Government officials on the everyday challenges that affect businesses, employees and commuters. We discussed mobility, civic amenities, digital infrastructure, talent and more importantly coordination between stakeholders and Government. I shared that the Government has already earmarked ₹450 crore for road upgradation on this stretch and assured that progress on key civic and mobility issues will be reviewed regularly with all stakeholders. We will also take this engagement model to other major brownfield business and technology corridors in Bengaluru to identify critical challenges and drive time-bound solutions. @CMofKarnataka @DKShivakumar

All India Professionals' Congress (AIPC)
What an inspiring day for all of us at the All India Professionals’ Congress (AIPC) at the Grace Hopper Celebration 2025, India’s largest gathering of women in tech, hosted by AnitaB.org India at the KTPO, Bengaluru. Our Chairperson Praveen Chakravarty and Sowmya Reddy, President of the Karnataka Pradesh Mahila Congress, led a powerful fireside conversation on “The Power of Change: Politics × Tech.” Their insights on how technology, governance, and people-centred policy must evolve together were energising and deeply meaningful — a reminder that the future is not just digital, but democratic, inclusive, and humane. Praveen Chakravarty also delivered a compelling lightning talk on redefining Responsible AI and the crucial question: Where do humans fit into the loop? He emphasised that AI is not something to fear; when designed and deployed responsibly, it can transform Indian society, empower citizens, and expand opportunity for all. Led by Vinod Subramanian, AIPC’s presence at GHC 2025 also saw the launch of Together For Tech Lives by the AIPC IT domain, a people-first tech safety and digital rights campaign aimed at educating citizens on privacy, online harms, and ethical tech use. It was heartening to see the support the campaign received at the event. Proud to see AIPC engaging with some of the brightest women in tech, fostering conversations that connect innovation, ethics, politics, and public good. Here’s to shaping a future where technology strengthens democracy. @pravchak @Sowmyareddyr @VinodSubram #AIPC #GHC2025 #GraceHopperCelebration #AnitaBOrg ResponsibleAI TogetherForTechLives TechForGood FutureOfIndia WomenInTech ProgressivePoliyics
