From Sunday 7 December, on-the-day rail fares in Greater Manchester are getting simpler: ✔️ Just two options – anytime or off-peak ✔️ Single tickets = half the price of returns ✔️ Valid across all operators This is a key step toward contactless payments and bringing the first rail lines into the #BeeNetwork in Dec 2026... all part of a plan to make our trains, buses, trams and active travel truly connected.

For some living on the GM border this has resulted in a huge increase in prices to already terrible services @AshleyDalton_MP
@northernassist has confirmed they have now removed advance peak tickets from my station, resulting in daily prices more than doubling @LiveLancs

2 carriage short forming every day @northernassist- timelines show this will be until 2030/31 at least for non-electric lines 🤯
Impossible to encourage a shift to public transit under these conditions!

@northernassist It’s been most commuter trains on this service for the last couple of weeks in both directions. The ticket might be valid but people’s work doesn’t flex so people are forced squash in. You should be offering partial refunds when people are forced to travel like this.

Good old @northernassist now running daily short formed services (2 instead of 4 carriages) to fiddle on-time numbers
Carnage includes:
- no workable loo on a 2 hour+ service
- not physically being able to board
- squished passengers
The North needs better!
