𝗜𝘀 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗞𝗲𝘁𝗼 𝗱𝗶𝗲𝘁 𝗱𝗮𝗻𝗴𝗲𝗿𝗼𝘂𝘀 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝘆𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝗵𝗲𝗮𝗿𝘁? 𝗜𝘁 𝗱𝗲𝗽𝗲𝗻𝗱𝘀 𝗼𝗻 𝘆𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝗔𝗣𝗢𝗘 𝗴𝗲𝗻𝗲. We see many people jumping on high fat and low carb diets today. For some it is a miracle for weight loss. For others it is a shortcut to a heart attack. If you carry the APOE4 allele which is common in many populations your body handles saturated fats very poorly. Instead of being used for energy these fats can skyrocket your bad cholesterol and increase your risk of Alzheimer disease. This matters for Nutritionists because giving a high fat diet plan without knowing a patient status is like prescribing a drug without checking for allergies. Question: Would you reconsider your favorite superfood if you found out your genes could not process it?

𝗔 𝗡𝗲𝘄 𝗠𝗮𝗻𝗱𝗮𝘁𝗲 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝗡𝘂𝘁𝗿𝗶𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝗶𝘀𝘁𝘀: 𝗟𝗲𝗮𝗱𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗣𝗿𝗲𝗰𝗶𝘀𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗛𝗲𝗮𝗹𝘁𝗵 𝗥𝗲𝘃𝗼𝗹𝘂𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗶𝗻 𝗔𝗳𝗿𝗶𝗰𝗮 🇰🇪✊🏾 Over the last 10 days, we have explored the frontier of nutritional science, from molecular genetics to the future of AI. The central message is clear: One-size-fits-all nutrition is dead. The era of personalized health is here. But who will lead this charge? It must be us. The nutritionists, students, and leaders. As nutrition professionals we can no longer be seen as "meal planners" or providers of generalized dietary advice. Our mandate has evolved. We must become biophysicists, molecular biological interpreters, and data analysts. We are the critical bridge between complex genetic science, and the practical choices people make at the dinner table. Precision nutrition isn't a western concept we import. We are building it here. As leaders, we need to: Demand Data-Driven Education: We must integrate genomics, molecular biology, and biochemistry into our standardized nutrition curriculum. Champion Personalized Approaches: We must move past the guidelines and start addressing the unique biological context of every individual. Bridge the Science and the People: We need to make this complex science accessible and actionable for our communities. This is our new frontier. Let’s lead the charge in making Kenya a global hub for personalized health. The journey from the lab to a healthier society begins with us. Let’s connect: If you are a student or a professional working in the space where molecular genetics meets nutrition, DM or tag yourself in the comment section.

The Ghanaian dude let out a booming laugh, his massive shoulders shaking as he signaled the waiter for another round. Ghanaian Dude: "My guy, you speak like a true brother! Another round it is. But tell me—you talk about my women exploring Europe, but what about your own? I’ve seen Kenyan ladies; they are sharp, they are educated, and they don't take nonsense. Is that why you're looking toward West Africa?" Me: "Haha! You’ve observed well, Oga. Our women are 'fire'—very independent. But you know how it is, the grass always looks greener on the other side of the continent. I figured a little Jollof spice might balance out my Sukuma Wiki!" Ghanaian Dude: "Jollof spice! You want the heat, eh? But be careful what you wish for. A West African woman will give you love, but she will also give you 'wahala' if you don’t step up. In Ghana, we say if you want to marry a queen, you must be prepared to be a king—and kings don't just drink whiskey, they provide!" Me: "Trust me, as a Kenyan man, I’m built for the marathon, not just the sprint. I can provide! But back to you—2 years in Nairobi and still playing 'single and no commitments'? Don't tell me our Kenyan hospitality hasn't tempted you even a little bit." Ghanaian Dude: (Leaning in, whispering with a grin) "The hospitality is dangerous, my friend. It’s too good! That’s why I stay 'single.' If I commit to one Kenyan lady, I might never go back to Accra. I came for a contract, not a permanent residency in someone's heart!" Me: "Spoken like a man who has almost been caught! Cheers to that. To 'no commitments'—at least until this bottle is empty!" Ghanaian Dude: "Cheers, my guy! To Kenya, to Ghana, and to the women we are currently hiding from!"

Earlier this evening, I headed out to my local joint for a few shots of whiskey. While I was there, I ran into two Ghanaians. We ended up hitting it off and taking turns sponsoring rounds for the group. We had a great time. They insisted on playing some Ghanaian and Nigerian tracks, and as Kenyans, we were totally cool with it. No “hala” at all—we just vibed. Eventually, I struck up a conversation with one of them—a massive, bearded guy who turned out to be quite friendly. Me: “Oga, how are you?” Ghanian Dude: “I’m good, my guy. How are you?” Me: “I’m cool, man! Welcome to Kenya.” Ghanian Dude: “Thank you, sir. I actually love it here. I’ve been around for two years now.” Me: “Two years? No kidding! So, have you found yourself a Kenyan lady yet?” Ghanian Dude: “No, sir! I’m actually divorced.” Me: “Haha, divorced? Are you Christian or Muslim? And by the way, why do we always see so many West African men in Kenya, but hardly any of the women?” Ghanian Dude: “Yes, sir, I’m divorced. I’m Muslim. As for our women, they prefer exploring European countries rather than other African nations—except maybe South Africa. I think it’s just a lack of exposure to what else is out there.” Me: “Well, look at it this way: as a Muslim, you’ve still got an allowance for three more wives even after a divorce! And about your women—please tell them what they’re missing in Kenya. They’re out searching the world, and I’m right here!” Ghanian Dude: “I hear you, sir. However, while I’m in Kenya, I prefer to stay single with no commitments. You know how women are—especially Kenyan women!” Me: “Sir, I hear you! But before I say anything that might get me in trouble with Kenyan girls, let’s just order another round of whiskey.”

This is wrong on so many levels. It is hard to imagine a leader mocking someone's appearance in a church full of people. Someone's body should never be a topic of ridicule .Body-shaming should never be used as a joke.
