When buying Shares, you pay brokerage and statutory fees so let's look at how much it costs; To buy 1,000 Absa Shares at sh 31; Order value : sh 31,000 Brokerage charges: sh 403 Statutory charges: sh 169.82 Net Consideration: sh 31,572.82 So the fees are a total of 572.82 out of 31,000 which is 1.84% (Broker used for this example is AIB-AXYS on AIB DigiTrader App)

𝗙𝗼𝗿𝗴𝗲𝘁 𝗷𝘂𝗶𝗰𝗲 𝗰𝗹𝗲𝗮𝗻𝘀𝗲𝘀 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗹𝗲𝘁 𝘂𝘀 𝘁𝗮𝗹𝗸 𝗮𝗯𝗼𝘂𝘁 𝗚𝗹𝘂𝘁𝗮𝘁𝗵𝗶𝗼𝗻𝗲 𝗶𝗻𝘀𝘁𝗲𝗮𝗱 The word detox has been hijacked by marketing. True detoxification is a two phase genetic process in your liver. Phase One involves genes that turn toxins into reactive intermediates. Phase Two involves genes that neutralize those intermediates so they can leave the body. If your Phase One is fast but your Phase Two is slow due to your genes then toxins actually become more dangerous inside you. The Nutrigenomic Solution to support Phase Two includes sulfur rich foods like garlic and onions and eggs. This is not a cleanse but rather Phase Two Enzyme Induction.

Nutrigenomics isn't sci-fi—it's personalized nutrition now. A study with 108 people gave gene-matched diets: Inflammation dropped 12% in months, better than standard advice. Why? Genes like IL-6 affect how food fights swelling. In Kenya, tailor maize-based meals: Some genes love whole ugali with fish for omega-3s; others need fewer carbs to avoid spikes. From refugee nutrition pieces I've written, this precision helps vulnerable groups thrive. No more trial-and-error diets. Steps: Get a DNA test (cheek swab), learn variants, swap foods—like more beans for folate genes. Results? Weight loss, energy boost, disease risk down. Kenya's diverse genes demand this.

𝐕𝐢𝐭𝐚𝐦𝐢𝐧 𝐃 𝐆𝐞𝐧𝐞𝐬 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐒𝐮𝐧/𝐅𝐢𝐬𝐡 Vitamin D deficiency affects 1 in 5 Africans, worse in urban Nairobi due to VDR gene variants and less sun exposure. Our dark skin needs more from omena or eggs. Nutrigenomics tip: Genes dictate how much you make from sunlight – supplement wisely if low. Gym folks, this boosts muscles too! Tested your levels?

I'm passionate about nutrigenomics. It's the exciting science of how food 'talks' to your genes. Your DNA decides if nutrients from everyday Kenyan staples like ugali, sukuma wiki, or beans work best for you or not. For example, some genes make you process carbs faster, while others need more greens to balance blood sugar. This means one-size-fits-all diets fail; personalized eating wins. Imagine testing your genes to tweak your plate for energy, weight control, or disease prevention. In Kenya, with our diverse diets and genetics, this could transform public health. I've researched Kenyan foods' gene interactions, and it's game-changing.

𝗧𝗼 𝗺𝘆 𝗳𝗲𝗹𝗹𝗼𝘄 𝗽𝗮𝗿𝗲𝗻𝘁𝘀 𝘄𝗲 𝗮𝗿𝗲 𝘄𝗿𝗶𝘁𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗴𝗲𝗻𝗲𝘁𝗶𝗰 𝗳𝘂𝘁𝘂𝗿𝗲 𝗼𝗳 𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝗰𝗵𝗶𝗹𝗱𝗿𝗲𝗻. The nutrition a child receives in the womb and the first two years creates epigenetic marks on their DNA that last a lifetime. This is called Metabolic Programming. If the genes of a child are programmed in an environment of high sugar and processed fats their body will be primed for obesity and diabetes decades later. We should empower Kenyan mothers with the knowledge that they are not just feeding a baby. They are architecting a genome.

𝗜𝘀 𝗮𝗻 𝗢𝗹𝘆𝗺𝗽𝗶𝗰 𝘀𝗽𝗿𝗶𝗻𝘁𝗲𝗿 𝗯𝗼𝗿𝗻 𝗼𝗿 𝗺𝗮𝗱𝗲? The answer is both. The ACTN3 gene is known as the sprinter gene because it produces a protein found only in fast twitch muscle fibers. The Sprinter has two copies of the Power variant. The Endurance Runner has variants that favor efficiency over explosive power. The Nutrigenomic Twist is that your genes also dictate your recovery. Some athletes need high Omega 3 levels to prevent muscle damage while others need specific amino acids to trigger protein synthesis faster. Kenya is a powerhouse of athletics and imagine if our athletes had personalized plans to optimize their recovery and performance. 🇰🇪 If you knew you were genetically built for endurance rather than power would you change your workout routine?

𝗪𝗵𝘆 𝗱𝗼 𝘀𝗼𝗺𝗲 𝗽𝗲𝗼𝗽𝗹𝗲 𝗴𝗲𝘁 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗳𝗹𝘂 𝘄𝗼𝗿𝘀𝗲 𝘁𝗵𝗮𝗻 𝗼𝘁𝗵𝗲𝗿𝘀?  Even in sunny Kenya vitamin D deficiency is a major issue. But even with high levels of Vitamin D some people have a weak immune response. The culprit is the Vitamin D Receptor gene. If your receptor is genetically deaf your body does not hear the signal of the Vitamin D you are taking. You might need three times the dose of the average person to get the same immune boosting effect. The Clinical Pearl is that we cannot use standard doses for everyone. This is why testing the receptor is as important as testing the blood level. Have you checked your Vitamin D levels recently?
