I was honored to declare open the 2026 Caliphate Bar Law Week of the Nigerian Bar Association, Sokoto Branch, themed “Secured Nation, Secured Future.”
Our administration remains steadfast in strengthening the justice sector—promoting judicial independence, improving infrastructure, and enhancing access to justice for all. From the promotion of judges and Khadis to the ongoing construction of a new High Court complex and support for the Shari’ah Court of Appeal, we are laying a solid foundation for a more efficient and responsive system.
I commend the NBA Sokoto Branch for its unwavering commitment to the rule of law and legal excellence. I also appreciate the presence and insights of the Honourable Attorney-General of the Federation, whose call for grassroots justice and stronger community-based solutions resonates deeply with our vision. -AAS

PRESS RELEASE
OGUN STATE GOVERNMENT RESPONDS TO FLOODING ALONG IPERU–ILISHAN ROAD
The Ogun State Government wishes to address the flooding incidents recently observed along the Iperu–Ilishan Road corridor and to reassure residents and road users of ongoing efforts to resolve the situation promptly.
Preliminary assessments indicate that the flooding recorded at a tiller-seller’s shop in Iperu Town occurred largely because the structure is situated below the current road level. This was further compounded by the obstruction of the drainage channel in front of the shop, which impeded the free flow of stormwater and led to overflow.
Further assessment revealed that a heap of laterite, remnants from earlier construction works, clogged sections of the drainage channel along the corridor. This obstruction significantly impeded the discharge of stormwater and contributed to the flooding experienced.
It is also important to note that the intensity of the rainfall at the time was unusually high, which increased stormwater volume.
In response, His Excellency, the Governor of Ogun State, Prince Dapo Abiodun, CON has directed the immediate mobilization of equipment to site to clear all clogged sections, remove laterite blockages, and fully open up the affected drainage channels, including the outfall/discharge channels away from the road, to restore the free flow of stormwater.
As an interim measure, labourers have already been deployed and are currently clearing and packing the accumulated sand and laterite from the drainage paths, pending the arrival of a grader and other heavy-duty equipment to expedite the process and ensure a thorough cleanup.
We are pleased to inform the public that the water has since receded, and the road surface is now dry.
The Ogun State Government remains committed to ensuring effective drainage management and maintaining critical infrastructure across the state. Residents are kindly advised to refrain from indiscriminate dumping of refuse in drainage channels, as this significantly affects their functionality.
We appreciate the understanding and cooperation of the public as these remedial efforts continue.
Signed:
Engr. Ade Akinsanya
Commissioner for Works, Ogun State

The General Manager of LASCOPA has urged Lagosians not to hesitate or delay in reporting complaints to the Agency, stressing the importance of consumer protection laws in safeguarding residents’ rights.
He reaffirmed that Lagos State Consumer Protection Law (as amended in 2015) protects consumers from fake, substandard, and deceptive products and ensures fairness in all transactions.
Residents are encouraged to speak up whenever goods or services fail to meet expected standards, as silence allows unfair practices to continue—especially in today’s market where counterfeit products are increasingly difficult to detect.
Know your rights. Speak up.

To assess the pace and quality of ongoing work, today, I inspected the Warri Township Stadium accompanied by the President of the Nigerian Football Federation (NFF), Ibrahim Musa Gusau; former NFF President Amaju Pinnick and Managing Director of the contracting firm, Peculiar Ultimate Concerns Ltd, Engr. Adeleke.
Among other facilities, I inspected the hospitality suites, the Voice Operating Centre (VOC) and the pitch. Though, satisfied with most of the facilities, I however directed the contractor to replace the cladding with more superior ones for aesthetic effects. The contractor also assured us that this very important project will be completed by September 2026
