I will re-iterate that many anti-Platner Democrats, including myself, are not arguing against a Dem Senate majority. Many of us believe he will not only ultimately lose, if he is the nominee, but that he will ALSO drag other Democrats down with him. That's what the GOP wants.

CNN had Andy Kim on and tried to bait him into denouncing Graham Platner, but he wouldn’t do it. He said what’s important to him is gaining control of the Senate, and it’s up to Maine voters to decide who they want representing them. He’s too real for that.

This is a really great thread about Platner. I will admit that I was very against him at first, for all the reasons people bring up, until I started looking at him through the lens of a combat vet trying to heal.
And I can’t get over the fact that Dems who hate him are mostly bothered by his lack of fealty to Israel, even though they won’t come out and say it. That Israel first is their one overriding issue.
The people of Maine seem to not mind Platner’s warts and we certainly won’t find a dem to energize like him in two weeks. So, we might be just stuck here.

The Graham Platner story is landing because it confirms a bunch of his critics’ prior concerns: unvetted, history of poor decision-making, the kind of light misogyny that tends to go along with male bad decision-making. Those are all problems! But it’s worth asking if they’re problems that should be disqualifying for a senate seat and I think the answer to that is no.
