Richard Falk, 95, the former UN special rapporteur who spent years documenting Israeli abuses in the occupied territories, says he and his wife, legal scholar Hilal Elver, were detained and questioned for more than four hours at Toronto Pearson airport on Thursday, Al Jazeera reported. A security officer told them, “We’ve detained you both because we’re concerned that you pose a national security threat to Canada,” Falk said. He adds that they were asked about their work on Israel, Gaza and genocide, calling the questioning part of a global push to “punish those who endeavour to tell the truth” about Israel’s war on Gaza. 🎥 Video: Professor Richard Falk speaking at the Gaza Tribunal in October
