How can we teach our children to manage their big emotions & self regulate? If we punish them they learn to internalise, hide and bury these emotions deep, but not deal with them. They will never learn to emotionally regulate unless we model to them how it is done.

In those moments when your children are testing you most i.e. they won't leave the park, you can't get them in to bed - what if we met them where they were in their world of play, thereby seeking their connection and cooperation? Wouldn't that feel better for everyone?

What would it mean to the children at your school to have someone that could be their emotional coach? What would it mean to your child(ren) to have a parent that could be their emotional coach? I'd love to know your thoughts, please do share.

One for all you parents with strong-willed kids, otherwise known as "spirited child" or as in this article "strong-willed exuberant". Enjoy the read. ow.ly/9URt50FFyqt

Some wonderful affirmations for our children and for us too! What affirmations do you use in your family? Or what affirmations do you wish you had heard growing up?

"The Power of Showing up" by Daniel J Siegel and Tina Payne Bryson, makes for fascinating and fairly eye opening reading. It explains how parental presence shapes who our kids become and how their brain gets wired.

Play is one of the most powerful tools we have as a parent! It's the perfect opportunity to connect with our child, essential for healthy development, aids learning, boosts social and emotional skills, and it gives child & parent that "feel good factor"! ow.ly/EuSR50FFq5D

Saw this and thought it was very apt for all the amazing school leaders I've been working with this year. I'm in awe of your dedication to helping your pupils thrive against all odds. Make sure you take care of yourselves this festive holiday. 👏🙏

Year 4 have decided to adopt an endangered animal for our Christmas gift this year. 🎅🏻This was decided after our inspirational Eco day we had in school last week. 4H have adopted a Jaguar and 4M have adopted an Elephant. @wwf_uk

Just read this great article on @HuffPost: 'Resilience is the most powerful skill kids can develop right now'. Great advice for school leaders and parents alike. I particularly like the China cup & ball analogy of resilience. bit.ly/3msCDOO

It was lovely to see everyone at @ALP_Trust and @HaresideS today for our 'teamwork' session. Who still came with smiling faces, an upbeat nature and willingness to get stuck in, even in these challenging times. #teamwork #wellbeing

It's been a great week working with some awesome teams. Today, I have the pleasure of training @ALP_Trust in teamwork for 'teams' at home and work. Understanding the impact others behaviour has on how we think and act, using this to act differently. #wellbeing #resilience

Today my son said "Mummy, I think your idea of setting up your own business is great. I think I'll do it too when I'm a man". I wanted my son to know all the possibilities & options, so his were never limited. It's good to see that my actions have opened his eyes a little more.

I've been reading Brene Brown's "Daring Greatly". I came across this parenting manifesto in her book. Thought it was powerful and moving. Thought fellow parents would appreciate it.

First day back at school for my little one today. He was excited, then anxious, then upset, but as soon as he walked through the gates and saw his head and class teacher, he was smiley as ever. Who else had their kiddo return recently? #teachersaregreat
