As-salāmu 'alaykum wa raḥmatullāhi wa barakātuh, Following our publication addressing Mut'ah al-Ṭalāq in response to Dr. Hatem al-Haj's fatwa issued through AMJA, we became aware that AMJA has developed an official Family Code and standardized Marriage Contract promoted for use by Muslim couples and families in America. Our review reveals that both documents contain what effectively constitutes a form of alimony, among other substantial concerns. The marriage contract warrants particular attention given its legally binding implications for couples who adopt it. After careful examination, we cannot recommend its use in its present form. We have accordingly prepared a comprehensive evaluation of both documents for the benefit of the scholarly community. It is our sincere hope that AMJA will give due consideration to the issues raised. This paper identifies and analyzes the problematic provisions found in both the Family Code and the standardized marriage contract. We had published an Arabic version and this is the English version. A Critical Review of Political Candidates as al -Muʾallafatu Qulūbuhum - English Version Project Iḥyāʾ presents this academic research paper as a systematic study of the recent fatwa by AMJA and FCNA permitting the allocation of Zakāt funds to political candidates. This work is not presented as a fatwa, but as an academic study of the application of Zakāt to the category of al-muʾallafa qulūbuhum, examined within the broader methodological trend of contemporary modernist fiqh, particularly maqāṣid-centered approaches and their impact on juristic reasoning. It offers a scholarly analysis of the ruling’s legal foundations, assumptions, and implications. Formal fatāwā have been issued by AFA and Dār al-Qāsim. This study forms part of Project Iḥyāʾ’s broader research effort to examine contemporary methodological trends in modernist fiqh. It continues our earlier work critiquing similar tendencies, including our study on Mutʿah al-Ṭalāq and AMJA's marriage contract, and represents a further contribution to the analysis of this developing juristic trajectory. More recently, some Christian apologists have attempted to revive this long discredited narrative. Project Ihyā presents a brief analysis of the narration, focusing on its transmission, expert evaluations, internal difficulties, and related questions. Alimony & Mutʿah al-Ṭalāq: Analyzing the Maqāṣidī Approach - English Version As-salāmu ʿalaykum wa raḥmatullāhi wa barakātuh, Project Ihya recently released a publication regarding recent attempts to revise the Islamic injunction of Mutʿah al-Ṭalāq, sparked by public statements of Dr. Yāsir Qāḍī (@YasirQadhi) and a circulated fatwā by Dr. Ḥātim al-Ḥājj (AMJA). This is an English version of the same publication. It aims to: 1.⁠ ⁠Clarify the traditional position of the fuqahāʾ regarding Mutʿah al-Ṭalāq. 2.⁠ ⁠Expose the methodological and substantive errors underlying the revisionist framing. 3.⁠ ⁠Address the confusion that has spread online due to these claims. This paper was originally authored in Arabic to directly engage the scholarly community. This English version is being released for wider community benefit.
