Let's use this period of uncertainty for non-league football to proactively address the planned restructure via PPG: 0⃣ No teams relegated across Steps 3-6 🔝Reward strongest teams from 2019-21 with promotion 🔁Allow @fa to restructure the pyramid #ProjectNonLeague

Yesterday's confirmation of the FA Restructure was a great day for Non League. Congratulations to all the fantastic clubs that benefitted from hard-earned upwards movement. So happy for you all. We only wish clubs higher up the pyramid had benefitted similarly.

The FA has invited clubs at Step 5 & 6 to apply for 'upward movement'. Clubs are asked to submit details of their ground grading, security of tenure & finances by Monday 3rd May. Here's the list of clubs invited to apply (clubs for initial/first consideration are in bold):

@andysharratt Focus will be on 4th and 5th in order. If only two teams wanted out of 5 then not sure what would happen to be honest. Most step 6 clubs will want to go up. Some Step 5 clubs might not.

@Projectnonleag1 If clubs don't apply to go from step six to step five do you know how those places are allocated? Is it next club in that league or next best PPG regardless of geography?

Good news! Here is what our new league *might* look like. This was copied from the Non League Matters website & is someone's projection, so not at official. Time will tell if it's correct...

BREAKING: The FA Council has approved plans to 'upwardly move' 110 clubs at Steps 5-7. At Steps 5&6, the combined PPG from the 2019/20 & 2020/21 seasons will be used to select which clubs can apply. At Step 7, leagues will considered applicants on a more 'subjective basis'.

@Adam51028500 @Andymorris74 @FA Sadly so. There will be no promotion in Steps 2,3 or 4. The reason for promotions in Steps 5,6 and 7 is to allow the restructure. No club needs to be relegated and it enables the FA to unblock the clubs at Step 7 that have been trying to enter the NLS.

Following the curtailment of the 2020-21 season at tiers three to six of the women's football pyramid, clubs are now able to apply to move into the league or division above the one in which they currently play:

@Andymorris74 @Adam51028500 @FA Yes, we asked for movement in our proposals. This included the National league moving to 3 x 24 teams as per their plans. Sadly the National league was in a mess and it was taken off the table affecting steps 2 and 3’s promotion hopes. Sadly with no upwards movement there step 4.

@Projectnonleag1 @Adam51028500 @FA Yep, get that. But step 3 & 4 the only leagues with no movement for 2 consecutive seasons with everyone else either playing or using PPG.

Ladies first.... thefa.com/news/2021/apr/… The women’s upward movement opens today and the men’s teams hopefully open on Monday for those clubs in Steps 5 and 6 that are in either in the top 3 or top 5 of their division. Three clubs would be invited to apply if 1 slot available

@simmo_on_sport @Rob_Kelleher1 Sadly Step 3 and Step 4 will run one short in 2021/22 season. The National League had agreed to go to 24 clubs at Step 2 previously but this is also on hold. Hopefully Steps 3 and 4 can benefit next season with additional promotion spaces to complete these vacancies.

@Rob_Kelleher1 Yes, fair comment 👍🏻 I’m unsure (although perhaps I’ve missed it) what the proposal is for filling vacancies created by teams resigning e.g. Droylsden, to use an example.

⚽️ | I asked the FA how its committees could use outcome of completed fixtures in 2019-20 season to inform decision on which clubs are eligible to apply for upward movement, as part of the NLS restructure, if those results were expunged? Here is @FAspokesperson's response ⬇️

A top tweet from a club that finishes 4th on PPG when the top 4 were due to go up. Tooting Bec misses out unless a space comes up and they wish their rivals well for an upward movement. Fair play @TootingBecFC 👏

Well done to @jersey_bulls @FarnhamTownFC & @waltonhershamfc on their impending promotion from CCL div 1. Had some great battles with each of you and fully deserve to go up. Pleased to see the top teams in the league rewarded for their excellence over the last 24 months 👏

@TheNomadsFc Hello Antsey Nomads, we have already done the legal investigations for you. The FA have the right to use 19/20 season data as part of their wide remit of administering the game. These results can be used and we hope to save you time and money.

We're tremendously encouraged by the proposed structural changes to the NLS put forward by the alliance/leagues committees. We praise them for their forward thinking & leadership. It's the closest thing there is to a "fair" outcome from past 2 seasons.
