@stopizz @laramecfs If you get extended release and it helps you, then it lasts all day so there is little rebound risk unless you stop it cold Turkey :)

@stopizz @laramecfs You just have to make it not wear off. Make sure to take multiple doses throughout the day for coverage, even if they are small. No didn’t make me worse but that’s because I haven’t had rebound

Has anyone had success with guanfacine or clonidine helping with upright time or giving u more energy to be upright? Particularly in addition to another pots med like ivabradine. Thank you.

@stopizz @laramecfs I’m on 2 mg short release 1mg extended release a day and it’s not enough. May add clonidine. Effects were immediate at first but my body got worse and needed more to calm the adrenaline

@ProperChels34 @laramecfs How long did it take until you saw effects from guanfacine and did you have side effects esp in the beginning? Have you tried increasing to 2mg?

@laramecfs @stopizz Pretty severe. I’m on my back for most of the day except for one meal right now. Used to be two. No movies or anything like that

@laramecfs @stopizz Shows up as very high BP, chest fluttering, can be triggered by lifting an arm, or turning over in bed and my whole body feels like that heart sinking feeling and wired

@ProperChels34 I'm sad for you. I was 40 before I came down with ME CFS. To lose your 20s is terrible sad.

You took a carefree mid 20s who was ready for the best parts of life and you stripped him down to the core. Took his dignity, took him away from his friends, family, home. Bedbound and loss of independence. This illness takes it all and does not care one bit

Today, on Long Covid awareness day I’d like to call out the prejudice delivered against long covid kids. My daughter is severely impaired by long Covid. She is attached to tubes 21 hours a day to keep her alive, and has 3x stomas as well as a permanent line into her heart for iv fluids. She has encountered sepsis repeatedly, all manner of acute life threatening secondary issues due to her condition, and is malnourished. She spends much of her time in hospitals. She missed 3+ years of schooling, but this year is attempting to do (with very minimal support from her teacher) Grade 12 English. She zooms into classes from the adult oncology ward she’s housed in. She reschedules treatments around lesson times to try and make them. But, she is acutely unwell and often this is impossible. That she even continues with education is remarkable. But, she loves learning and in spite of all she suffers, she is performing very well. This is the comment from her English teacher. Imagine this being said about a child in these health circumstances with ANY other illness……. #longcovidkids #LongCovidAwareness #longcovid

People in their 20s and 30s should not spend all the time sick and doing all this research and experimenting on their bodies just for a little bit of a hope at life again. Life barely got started for us.
