A common scenario: a trader executes multiple trades, with only 3–4 closed under 2 minutes, while the rest are held longer. On paper, this appears compliant. However, upon deeper review, it often turns out that the majority of profits were generated from those short-duration trades, while the longer trades contributed little or even resulted in losses. From the firm’s perspective, this raises concerns about strategy integrity and rule intent — hence payout rejections or deduction. To avoid ambiguity and ensure fairness, prop firms should consider refining their rule structure. Instead of focusing solely on the number of trades, guidelines should also address: • The average hold time across all trades • The proportion of profit generated from trades held longer than 2 minutes Clearer, more transparent criteria will help traders align their strategies properly and reduce unnecessary disputes.
