I’ve learned a lot researching songs and their meanings by sharing so many here on X.
So many songs capture sacrifice, loss, survival, protest, brotherhood, and coming home.
Some were loud.
Some were angry.
Some were deeply personal.
Songs like:
"Goodnight Saigon" by Billy Joel
"Brothers in Arms" by Dire Straits
"Fortunate Son" by Creedence Clearwater Revival
"We Gotta Get Out of This Place" by The Animals
Each one tells a different side of war and the emotions surrounding it.
Which song hits you hardest when thinking about war, service, sacrifice, or coming home?

@Hot_Pepper76 I absolutely love this song. Would make my top five everyday of the week. Great words. Great melody.

I loved this song yesterday, but I love it even more today. I believe you will like it more as well.
When The Hollies recorded it at Abbey Road Studios, the piano was played by a young 22 year old session musician named Reginald Dwight, later known to the world as Elton John.
The title itself comes from an old story dating back to 1884 about a little girl carrying her brother and saying, "He ain't heavy, he's my brother."
The phrase later became closely associated with Boys Town in the 1940s after a boy reportedly used it while helping carry a friend stricken with polio.
Some songs are more than music. They somehow carry heart, history, and humanity all at onc
Is this one on your playlist?

@Hot_Pepper76 Two. The Air That I Breathe and He Ain't Heavy He's My Brother. But, they didn't have many I didn't like.

Before Britpop, before power ballads, before arena rock took over... there were The Hollies.
One of the tightest harmony groups of the entire 1960s, and somehow they still don’t always get mentioned enough in the “greatest bands” conversations.
"Long Cool Woman"
"He Ain’t Heavy, He’s My Brother"
"Bus Stop"
"Carrie Anne"
"The Air That I Breathe"
The catalog is stacked.
What is your favorite song by The Hollies?

Nearly 60 years later, and this one still sounds like sunshine coming through the speakers!
And let’s talk about the bright colors. I’m all about that.
"A Beautiful Morning" by The Rascals was released in March 1968 and became one of the ultimate feel good songs of the era.
It was also the FIRST single released after the band officially dropped "Young" from their name and became simply The Rascals.
Felix Cavaliere reportedly came up with the idea while waking up in Hawaii and taking in the beautiful weather around him.
Bright horns.
Layered harmonies.
Pure optimism.
Skip or listen?

🇺🇸 Just in case you forgot why you have a three-day weekend…
This is it.
Not the barbecues. Not the beach trips. Not the sales.
This is the reason.
The folded flag. The final salute. The ultimate sacrifice so the rest of us could be free.
This Memorial Day, we honor the fallen.
We remember their names. And we never take this freedom for granted.

Which Beatles song was originally called Scrambled Eggs, yes, really, no peeking in the comments, take a wild guess.
Paul McCartney famously woke up in 1963 with the melody fully formed in his head. Because he didn't have any lyrics yet, he used the placeholder phrase "Scrambled Eggs" to remember the tune.
Hey Jude
Eleanor Rigby
Don't Let Me Down

@Hot_Pepper76 I turn it up. Gary Talley and Bill Cunningham are original members and still tour. They and the other members were and are accomplished musicians. One of them has a masters degree in music and has a classical background. Another became a producer, etc.
