We need to permanently retire the phrase "babysitting" when it comes to a father watching his own children. You cannot "babysit" the human being you chose to bring into this world. That is called parenting. It is wild how a man can spend two hours alone with his kids on a Saturday and expect a standing ovation, while his wife carries that exact same labor 24/7 without a single thank you. When a mother leaves the house, she shouldn't have to prep every meal, write out a three-page instruction manual, and answer ten panic texts about where the wipes are. Stop giving men a pass for doing the absolute bare minimum and calling it a "favor." He isn't "helping you out", he is fulfilling the basic moral obligation of being a father. If taking care of your own flesh and blood feels like a chore you need a trophy for, you didn't want a family, you wanted a fan club.

When I was a kid, I shared this fact with my parents. They were shocked and disgusted which confused me because I just saw it as a fun fact. Only now that I’m older do I understand that their reaction was completely justified. That was rape. It’s horrifying.
