I rushed my daughter to hospital at past 2am this morning. Needing to pay for lab tests and medication, I approached the cashier. This lady was sleeping comfortably, as though she was at home. I called her attention. She woke up briefly, mumbled a few words, and returned to sleep. It was hard. At some point, I decided to just stand and wait. She relaxed into her chair, dragged her duvet, and returned to what must have been blissful sleep. I stood there for 10 minutes weighing my options. Should I be angry and rant? Should I show empathy by understanding her situation? Eventually, the doctor was passing by and I reported to him. He approached her and she mustered the effort, albeit painfully, to finally attend to me. The doctor had been kind enough to proceed with emergency care for my child while I was sorting out the bills. Otherwise, we would have lost 15 minutes of valuable time to save a life, depending on what the ailment was. My daughter has been stabilised. We are still here. Hopefully, she will be fine. But, in between attending to my child and responding to passenger complaints on the time line and in my DM, I thought about that cashier and the attitude of night shift staff in a lot of businesses in our country. Something is not right. A night shift staff is expected to have taken care of sleep during the day. Take the hotels abroad, for example. The front desk staff are mostly not even allowed to sit. They stand all night behind their counters, attending to customers. And this practice cuts across a lot of other sectors outside hospitality. I can understand it if a doctor or nurse was catching a nap. Even they are expected to be alert, despite the tough nature of their jobs. But a cashier? I remember the number of times I have stayed in hotels here, where the 'receptionist' would bark at guests for disrupting their sleep because they needed something. "Why are you sleeping on duty in the first place?" "Oga, am I not a human being? Is this not night? Are you not supposed to be asleep yourself?" This is the most common retort I have heard. Then comes the gaslighting when you report to management. "You lack empathy, oga. Do you not feel for him/her? You can sleep, but you don't want another person to sleep?" I detest this. It is called SHIFT for a reason. That is your duty time. That is when you are supposed to do your job. An Egyptian front desk officer at the Pullman in Dubai, told me in 2018 when I asked why they had no chairs, that they are only allowed to walk around the lobby when they felt sleepy. But seats are not provided so that they don't get too comfortable on duty. That way, customers are guaranteed prompt attention when they need it. We must build a system of monitoring our on-duty personnel. At the NCAA, we are in the final stages of automating that process in my department. I do not want a situation where passengers are stranded at night, and our CPOs who are meant to be on duty would be answering my calls from home while claiming to be at the terminal. With automation, I can see where they are, real time. We must embrace a work culture that places the highest possible standards on night-shift staff. Those are crucial hours where time should not be lost. Customers/patients are most vulnerable at night, and should be guaranteed efficient and speedy attention. There is no emotional perspective to this. Work, if you must do it, must be done well. Happy New Year.

When you talk about these things they will blackmail you with accusation of Bigotry and Tribalism and now they have resorted to using Police and Court to harass you because they know you are a broke man who doesn't have money for lawyers. Just look at this one now. He probably thinks that we have short memory. And indeed , very sadly, many of our people have a very short attention span, especially our ignorant youths that we are breeding these days. So they will continue to bamboozle you This man here is one of the most outstanding examples of the negative effects of INTER-ETHNIC marriage in a fragile Nigeria especially between Yoruba MEN and Ibo WOMEN! Yoruba will always be shortchanged and endangered. Wale Rhodes-Vivour is married to Nkechi from Anambra State. They got the one who is very strangely called Gbadebo. He is just learning to speak Yoruba at 40. He will tell you that his long stay in Europe caused it but that long stay didn't't stop him from learning to speak Ibo. IPOB is a very lawless and cantekorous organisation whose sole purpose is to promote the very idiotic philosophy of an unrealistic Biafra agenda. So there was an #EndSARS madness, a temporary insanity which was staged or hijacked by IPOB and for days they visited mayhem on Lagos. They caused destruction to the extent that they instigated our foolish youths to attack HERITAGE AND MONUMENTS of Lagos including the iconic High Court and most abominable, the Oba Eleko's Palace in Ìgà Ìdúngànràn. Nnamdi Kanu was heard calling for the elimination of Bola Tinubu, Jide Sanwoolu and some other people who represented the LEADERSHIP of Yoruba land. These same people later rebranded as Obidient Movement and aimed at resetting the SOCIO-POLITICAL BALANCES of Lagos and by extension Yoruba land. They fronted Peter Obi, a chronic ZIONIST from Anambra, a man consumed by excessive and unreasonable Ibocentric ambitions. The objective is an execution of a long-unfolding ZIONIST plot over Yoruba aimed at a total displacement of Awori and Yoruba people in general from their ancestral lands While all of these were going on this man who is called Gbadebo was seen in pictures and writings all over social media posts OPENLY IDENTIFYING with IPOB, IBOS AND OBI. And why not. Like every other product of YORUBA- IBO MARRIAGE arrangements he sees himself as IBO FIRST. He doesn't think in Yoruba. His mother is Ibo of Anambra He is married to IFY an Ibo lady who must also think Ibo first. And when you consider the fact that the family is originally and to all logical context IBO but have managed to appear as having assimilated into Yoruba the case because even more annoying. Is it not even funny that the Rhodes-Vivour family house is said to be located in the area of Ikeja called "Ilè Zik" ? Now, these same man, and thousands like him on that Lagos Island, even when they don't think in Yoruba and have their hearts with the Ibos who are obsessed with the Zionist agenda over Lagos and Yoruba land, will come out and tell you that they are YORUBA and have ALL the rights derivable from their birth to Yoruba families. They will be part of Ẹ̀yọ̀. They will be part of Ogbóni. They will be part of your local Politics. They will be everywhere with you on that your land afterall it is their birthright. Yet they will undermine Yoruba land at the first and all opportunities they get. As it is in Lagos State so it is EVERYWHERE across Yoruba land. Once a YORUBA MAN is married to an IBO WOMAN he should just forget it, ALL of his children will look, behave and think Ibo. If there are exceptions they must be very negligible. Is that fair???? Crazy!!!! #Igbimoomoyoruba #ThinkYorubaFirst © Adedamola Adetayo 24 December 2025
