If we don’t have capable Nigerians for these jobs you say why are many Nigerians working with bigger companies? I think the reason for you not having the type of employees you want is the salary and pay package. I know many of Nigerians in tech who are working remotely and earning in top dollar. Why will they want to get employed and be paid change?

“I used to feel Nigerians are really bright. We’ve had over 500 vacancies since 2024, and we’re still struggling to find Nigerians to fill those roles. They don’t meet global standards. I blame social media, yahoo and hook up culture..” — Tosin Eniolorunda, Moniepoint CEO

Habits that made me a better software developer 👩🏽‍💻✨ 1. I spent less time scrolling aimlessly on TikTok and X. Reducing distractions helped increased my productivity. 2. I block off toxicity and discouragement on social media. I do not entertain anyone who would want to talk down on my progress or work. 3. I build projects that interest me. It keeps me engaged. And I learn faster when I actually care. 4. I followed people that inspired me. Their content give me the motivation and strength I need when I'm feeling down. 5. I write down my tasks/goals. I forget fast if I don’t. Notes help me remember later and enhance my accountability. 6. I test things as I build. Not after everything is done. It helps me catch issues early. 7. I build without following tutorials sometimes. No step-by-step guidance. It forces me to think. 8. I accepted that I’ll never know everything. Tech keeps changing. Learning how to learn is the real skill. 9. I stopped comparing my progress. Everyone learns at a different pace. Focusing on myself helped me improve faster. 10. I Google or AI everything without shame. No one knows everything. Knowing how to find answers is the real skill. 11. I code even when I don’t feel like it. Motivation comes and goes. Consistency is what actually moves me forward. 12. I stopped just watching tutorials. I started building things on my own. That’s when things actually started to stick.

@MrRex_official @difeanedit Haaland vs Gabriel doesn’t happen in all matches. Both of them didn’t kick the ball away. You don’t get away with unnecessary drama in the PL now so it’s a different scenario

Me last week: Finally finished this DRF backend! Me today: Realizing non-tech people can't interact with JSON responses. Time to cross over to frontend so people can actually use this delivery app.

Heads-up to backend guys: Always use generic error messages. Never expose error details that could give an attacker clues about what’s going wrong in your database.

first move isn’t even touching the app. hit the WAF/CDN edge, drop bad patterns, hard rate-limit. then verify legit users aren’t collaterally damaged before spinning anything up. seen too many engineers panic-scale and just burn budget amplifying the attack. calm triage > heroics

@Raynerdtech A lecturer told us to give him the solution the exact way he solved in class. In the previous semester we learnt the same topics c with different solving methods. For each topic for example we have different ways to solve them. One Lecturer A and the other for lecturer B 😂

Nigerian universities are shit bro Why would a lecturer say: “In your exam, write exactly what I wrote on the board word for word. Don’t form your own definition or you’ll fail no matter what.” Like… what??? This is not JSS1 ffs 😭 Now I’ve been cramming what I already understand for the past 2 hours

Hey everyone. Willie here. 4 years keeping production systems running at 3am, so you never notice when they go down. I write about real incidents, career lessons, and the uncomfortable truths about working in tech, especially from this side of the world. Glad to be here.

A software engineer in Nigeria earns roughly 400,000 naira a month. A software engineer in the US earns around $12,000 a month. At today's exchange rate, that is over 16 million naira. Same Python. Same JavaScript. Same GitHub. Same Stack Overflow. One passport is the only difference. Is this a skill gap or a system deliberately designed to keep talent cheap?

A Nigerian fintech founder raised $2M, built a slick app, onboarded 40,000 users. Then CBN, NDPC, and FCCPC came knocking at the same time. He had no licence. no DPO. no KYC tier structure. no breach policy. The company didn’t survive 2024. Here’s every rule you must know before you build:

Years back, when I was still deep in this tech journey and living in my parents’ house, I was always on my laptop. Whenever there was no light, I would move from street to street looking for where to charge. Then once I got home, I was back on my laptop again. One day, my mum and dad lowkey had a meeting. Later that night, my mum came to me and asked in Yoruba: “Jọ̀ọ́, má parọ́ fún mi, ṣe o ń ṣe Yahoo?” (Please don’t lie to me, are you doing Yahoo?) She said if I was doing it, it would make her sad and she wouldn’t be happy. Remembering it now just has me laughing 😂

Good morning all, This week is going to be a blessed and amazing one for me, my mutuals, and anyone who ends up joining my community this evening. The 90-day sprint will officially start on Wednesday, but we will use today and tomorrow to get the total number of people joining the community and place you all in groups, since you will be working in groups for proper accountability. We are here to learn, to build, and to serve the community. And I pray we achieve that over the 90 days. Just do well to join the community today. And one more thing, do well to repost so others can benefit from it too.
