Catastrophic plans currently are hard to get if you are over age 30, are not available everywhere, and are forced to cover 3 preventive appts annually under Obamacare on my cursory review, which is unnecessary.

This would make health "insurance" work more like car or home insurance. Something you use for a real catastrophe, not a middleman wedged in-between every interaction between the health system and patient.

A huge proportion of people would be much better off with catastrophic health care coverage and an HSA. And these people would have much more freedom within the system. Not begging for this or that treatment, medication, form the insurance company.
