Sandoval County Fire & Rescue will be at the Placitas Seller’s Market located at 221 Hwy 165 – in the Homestead Village Shopping Center this Saturday (5.14.2022) to talk with community members interested in wildfire safety.

5.1.2022 – 1240 hours: UPDATE - There is an evacuation order in effect for residents that live near the Valles Caldera. New Mexico Highway 4 is closed from mile marker 27 through mile marker 50.

ALERT: 4.29.2022 - 811 hours: There is an evacuation alert for Cochiti Mesa and Peralta Canyon. The Jemez Mountain Baptist Church is still offering space for evacuees.

There is a Burn Ban in effect for Sandoval County until rescinded Allowed for Home Use: Propane Natural Gas Charcoal Grills (Propane, natural gas, and wood fire pits as long as the area is free of vegetation and a metal screen is in use as a cover)

URGENT! The Jemez area will be under evacuation throughout the weekend. There will be no thru traffic on NM Highway 4. Authorities are reporting that the Cerro Pelado Fire is still zero percent contained.

WARNING: Authorities are asking people to stay away from the Jemez Springs area for their own safety. Currently, NM Hwy 126 and portions of NM Hwy 4 are closed due to the Cerro Pelado Fire. Please stay clear of this area.

State Aging and Long Term Services will be at the Jemez Mountain Baptist Church from 3pm-7pm to issue food vouchers for evacuated and displaced residents of the Cerro Pelado Fire near La Cueva.

BREAKING: Sandoval County Fire & Rescue are responding to a fire near NM 528 and Corrales Rd. There are no reports of injuries or how much of the fire has been yet contained.

Students from the Town of Bernalillo High School were presented with a mock crash scenario Wednesday (3.16.2022) that involved several of their very own classmates. @BernalilloNM

Several fire crews are currently on scene at a fire near Encino Road and Northern Boulevard. PNM is also on scene and will be turning off power to several high transmission lines in the area so crews can safely access the fire. This may cause a power outage in certain areas.

Sandoval County Fire & Rescue crews have closed down both lanes on U.S. 550 near mile marker 47, about 12 miles south of Cuba, New Mexico, due to a semi-truck that has rolled over. This closure will continue for an unknown duration of time. Please avoid this area if possible.

As a result of a positive outcome for a patient in the field, these three Sandoval County First Responders were honored by the Zoll Company with three Zoll Challenge coins, three certificates, and a dozen Dunkin Donuts on Monday 11.15.2021.

Sandoval County Fire & Rescue participated in a casualty exercise hosted by Cochiti Fire on Saturday 10.16.2021.

It was 9 years ago today that Sandoval County Fire Chief Jon Tibbetts lost his life after being involved in a fatal accident while traveling on Interstate 25 just south of the Town of Bernalillo. @sandovalcounty

Congratulations to Sandoval County’s new Fire & Rescue Deputy Chief Chris Bagley for his recent promotion. Bagley was one of the first 12 original firefighters hired upon the inception of the department in 2005.
