I need a 10,000 word report on my desk in the morning about why it’s now viewed as unacceptable to play a goalie on consecutive nights. This is still a “new” ish thing but teams are extremely dug in. Biggest game of the year and you go to a backup because it’s a back to back. I’m not even saying it shouldn’t be this way. (Although my theory is it’s okay to break that rule with your season on the line). But how did we get here? It’s just a hardened rule now that goalies can’t go back to back? Why? I feel like if a team played Games 1 and 2 of a playoff series on consecutive nights for some crazy scheduling reason — teams would play two goalies. Seems flawed to me it’s become such a unwavering “rule” at this point.

Reality check: When it actually is time to produce the big movie about the incredible heroic rescue in Iran this weekend, the right still has zero - none - of the capabilities required to produce such a thing and make it a blockbuster, watchable hit. If they do, they're just scattered around, bumping into things aimlessly, occasionally churning out some meh content that makes little impact. Instead, it will be made by people who hate you, hate Trump, and hate the men who pulled this off. They will be the ones who write the checks, acquire the rights, negotiate the deals, hire the screenwriters, cast the actors, make the costumes, direct it, act in it, edit it, market it, and distribute it. There may be a few undercover friendlies in the mix but this will be 100% a production of our enemies. If Tom Cruise, say, or Mel Gibson, for example, produced such a thing, great, but the rest of the operation would still be solidly Hollyweird. It would actually be so easy to found a real studio. A movie studio that's not a political podcast studio LARPing as a movie studio. The hour is so late. Where is this already?

And they do this with a budget of only 3.7% GDP. In the 1980s they peaked at 8%. In the 1950s it was 10%. And they have a big problem with waste and poor contract value. Imagine if they applied some SpaceX style management during wartime full mobilisation…. If they spend 8% today like they did under Reagan, the US military budget would be about $1.8 trillion per annum. Think about that
