Cyberpunk goes out of its way to show that Jackie was completely out of his league even before the heist began. He was never going to make it to the Big Leagues; his tragedy is that V is so genuinely important that even their best friend won’t be a footnote in their lives. It’s really quite clever. Jackie seems like a shadow in V’s life, but the inverse is true by the time you get to the end - Jackie is entirely swallowed by V’s monumental status and shadow by the end of the game. Did you think about him even once in the final act, unless explicitly prompted?

@SevenAgate1 @Yaz_Minsky I feel the show had a MUCH better opening two seasons than the comic, but as the show has went on it's not really found anything to replace the comic's shock value with It's kind of turned into all edge and no point, where at least the comic had a point buried beneath the edge
