a famous writer not getting a big Yale award might not be the worst thing that's ever happened but everyone I know with mental health problems has stories of lost money and missed opportunities because they couldn't handle some unnecessary social obligation. I know I do.

For like 5 years the only record I owned was a 12" of Can U Dig It? because I'd heard about it as a dance number that referenced Alan Moore and was stunned to see it for $2 in the used bin. Couldn't actually play it for that whole time so I didn't know it rocked.
