@ChrisMurphyCT @Cosmic_Lion Congress fleeing Washington for 10 days because lawmakers fear voting on a $1.7 billion political slush fund amendment might be the most honest thing Congress has done all year.

BREAKING: Votes on the Republican ICE/ballroom funding bill are CANCELLED. Thune sending everyone home for 10 days. Why? Republicans don’t want to vote against an amendment to stop Trump’s new $1.7B slush fund. The problem? That amendment doesn’t go away for them in 10 days.

Your claim that the top 1% pays 40% of taxes and the bottom 50% only 3% is misleading: It captures just one tax – the federal income tax – and ignores all the rest: payroll taxes, state income taxes, sales taxes, excise duties, etc., many of which are regressive.

If one takes a comprehensive view of taxation in the US, here’s the picture that emerges: All social groups pay broadly the same effective tax rate today – around 25%-30% of income, all taxes included – with billionaires having the lowest tax rate: 24% on average in 2018–20. gabriel-zucman.eu/files/SaezZucm…

Your personal case is a good illustration of the problem with the US tax system. Based on public data it is possible to estimate your total effective tax rate: the total amount of tax you pay personally plus indirectly through Amazon, relative to your income. Your total effective tax rate was just 15% in 2018. Meanwhile, the average person in the US pays around 30% of their income in taxes. gabriel-zucman.eu/files/SaezZucm…

@LiberN8 @DannyKPolitics Yes because Trump like to say people vote twice and who are not citizens, so he should have this 8nvestigetd to find out if people who are not from that district voted,

Massie can still request a recount. He has until May 29 to file. Under KRS 120.095, any candidate voted for in a Kentucky primary may petition the circuit court for a recount within ten days of the election. There is no vote-percentage threshold and no closeness requirement. The candidate posts bond, the State Board of Elections is named defendant, and the ballots and voting equipment are transferred into court custody for retabulation. The 50% threshold some are citing applies to election contests under KRS 120.055, a separate proceeding. A recount is not a contest. I have filed supplemental Open Records Act requests targeting the absentee ballot universe in the May 19 contest between Ed Gallrein and Thomas Massie. The most expensive House primary in U.S. history, funded by Paul Singer, Miriam Adelson, and John Paulson through MAGA Kentucky (FEC C00908723), deserves a tabulation the public can verify. Especially amidst ballot discrepancies. Massie has the standing. The window closes May 29.

@DannyKPolitics In his of Am elections its extrmely rare essentially unprecedented for voter turnout to more than double in just two years at the cong election. Ditto is an increase of 357% in votes for the opposition candidate within just one election cycle extraordinarily uncommon @MassieforKY
