Doctors are being arrested for saving lives. In Iran, security forces are storming hospitals to finish off wounded protesters. Now they’re storming doctors’ homes. At least 40,000 people killed. More than 300,000 injured. Doctors who treated the wounded are being hunted. •Dr. Alireza Golchini, a general surgeon in Qazvin, faces possible execution for posting an Instagram story offering free medical help. •Dr. Ameneh Soleimani, a physician in Ardabil, was arrested for treating injured protesters. •Dr. Farhad Nadali, an orthopedic surgeon in Gorgan, was abducted after condemning the killings. •Dr. Saber Dehghan, a neurosurgeon in Sirjan, arrested for helping the wounded. •Dr. Babak Pouramin, an emergency physician, has been detained for over a week. Their crime? Practicing medicine. This is what a terrorist state looks like.

A woman cuts her hair at her sister’s funeral in #Iran, because the regime shot her sister in the head. Let me be clear with Western female politicians, especially those in leadership positions in Europe: Do not cut your hair in symbolic solidarity with Iranian women. Cut your ties with our killers. Her name was Melika Dastyab. She was 21, a musician, economics student and she was dead by security forces while her sister stood next to her. That’s not a hashtag. That’s a crime against humanity.

I cannot think of a more relevant phrase than this as we enter the year of the Fire Horse!  As I reflect on my time in Morocco over the holidays I think of all the people in IRAN who are fighting a much needed, Revolution and willing to die for what they believe in. We take so much for granted Myself included. The freedom to travel the world. To wear what I want to wear. To ride a horse across the desert. To speak  Freely and not be silenced by punishment, torture, and possibly death. To sing. To dance. To choose my spiritual path, not someone else’s.. The women of Iran do not have this freedom. I stand with them. The people of Iran have not known freedom for centuries I cannot claim to truly know the suffering  that has been endured  but my thoughts and prayers are with the people of Iran. This was Nika Shakarami. She was just 16 years old. During anti-regime protests in 2022 over the death of Mashsa Amini, the 16 year old was abducted, tortured and killed by regime forces. Iranian authorities claim she died from falling from a building. But instead they beat her so severely they broke her skull. Iranian authorities refused to notify her family of her death for 10 days before removing her body from the morgue and burying her in a remote village without her families consent. This is what the Iranian regime does to women.
