Assume we are rooted. Understand Hooomes investment is a total misallocation of investment. Our economy is literally stuffed because of it. When I used to do a lot of investment decision making in tech start ups they were competing with investing in hoooomes and making a similar return via the tax system. Realise the system was created to stop people becoming communists via owning a home. But now it’s made them communist as they can’t afford to buy one. Hope this helps you understand my reasoning.

I personally own assets affected by cgt changes but I still support the governments changes First im not greedy selfish fuck looking for government subsidies to help my investments. Changes are for the betterment of all, not the few. When you make a system fairer all, the system pays you back.

@Pwoodee67 Fruit pickers, nurses, age care workers and university students are NOT here illegally - but would be deported in a housing downturn.

Rounding up migrants such as university students, nurses and aged care workers living in Australia during a housing downturn is a disgrace. What has the Liberal Party become? thenewdaily.com.au/opinion/2026/0…

@Pwoodee67 @bobjcarr My father lived in Australia since the 50s, married an Australia, had 6 Australian children, served in the RAF and was based at Camden during WWII but never took citizenship. He worked and paid taxes for 50 years. Now you think he didn’t deserve a vote?

Kos Samaras puts it succinctly. Households might have grandparents who are non citizens but parents and children who are and who vote. smh.com.au/politics/feder…

@Pwoodee67 @AshPolitik @ausstockchick Supply has lagged for decades, slow planning approvals, zoning restrictions, infrastructure delays, Labour shortage, expensive land & materials, Airbnb and a wasted decade.

I am yet to meet anyone who is actually impressed by the budget. Every single person I’ve spoken to has said it is the worst budget in history. Tell me exactly how any young person is going to create wealth in Australia now? Nobody can answer that question. #auspol

@Pwoodee67 @AshPolitik As a finance guy that type of investment is seriously productivity destroying. Also in my career bank lending has gone from 30% resi to 70%. It has been a serious mis allocation of investment for 40 years and in part why we are rooted

Young people without the bank of mum and dad, will now have a level playing field. Taxes don't stop wealth, don't take wealth, it makes it fairer. You can still make profit, be successful. You just have to be smarter in investing in productive assets, not lazy capitalist ventures like established property, or exponential share value growth from companies that don't pay dividends. CGT subsidies, paid by working people.

Today is Nakba, when Palestinians commemorate “the catastrophe” of mass displacement that accompanied the creation of Israel after the Holocaust. Maybe Australia struggles so much with this conversation because we’re still in denial about our own history? Hit me with it trolls!
