Flurries are s"no"w problem for red panda cubs! ❄️ Mr. Darcy and Dr. Wallace got their first official taste of snow today — with plenty of exploring, snacking, and a cozy nap to follow. ❤️ Red pandas are right at home in cold weather! Native to the temperate mountain forests of the eastern Himalayas and southwestern China, they’re built for snow with thick fur and bushy tails that act like blankets. In fact, East Tennessee’s winters are surprisingly similar to the climate of their native range. At Zoo Knoxville, all of our animals have choice and control over their environments along with access to heated indoor areas whenever they want.
