As record high March temps continue in the west - the concern grows for the snowpack! With mountain towns in the Rockies reaching into the 60s & 70s this weekend, the already bleak snowpack looks to lessen greatly.

Fire weather has been very prevalent across much of the Plains this week - with Colorado's Front Range sparking up a 600+ acre fire Thursday morning just south of Colorado Springs. This, combined with gusty winds, dry vegetation & record warmth keeps the fire danger around.

Northern O'ahu in Hawaii is experiencing catastrophic flooding after 5-9 inches of rain fell overnight.
A flash flood emergency has been extended for an additional 3 hours until 8 AM HT.
Floodwaters have cut off road access in and out of Haleiwa. #HIwx

March, 2026 may be remembered for one of the most unbalanced springs in recent memory. While most of the west is baking under a high pressure heat dome, that very same high pressure is directing nonstop heavy rain into Washington! All this heavy rain is even melting snow in the Cascades!

Just awful! Hawaii has been dealing with the impacts of what's called a "Kona Low" and this slow-moving low brought flooding & high winds to the 50th state last week.. More rain is forecast today, and although not as intense, any additional rain will create flooding easily.

Crews were hard at work in BLIZZARD CONDITIONS to try and restore power to residents in Gladstone, MI. This was during a historic snowstorm that shut down roads and knocked out power to over 90,000 people.

Fire Update: The Cottonwood and Morrill fires continue to burn. The good news is that containment for the Cottonwood fire is at 78%, while the #Morrill fire is over 70% contained as of this morning.

Ever wonder what 40+ inches of snow look like? That's exactly what Pictured Rocks National Lakeshore in Michigan's Upper Peninsula saw this weekend! Since then, the National Park Service has been hard at work trying to clear the snow for visitors.

Stunning, as always! 🏔️But the already dim snowpack in the Rockies, Wasatch, Sierra Nevada, etc are in danger from this major heatwave that is impacting a massive part of the west this week. Temps at some of these mountain ski resorts are forecast to be in the 70s! 🥵
