Was it time for Eddie to go? Yes Did his energy & enthusiasm disappear over the course of last season? Yes Did the football become stale? Yes Should a statue built of him? Absolutely One of, if not the best manager in the clubs history. Thank you for everything #NUFC

Arsenal in advanced talks for Bruno Guimaraes and are optimistic on striking a deal for north of £75m. Although #NUFC firmly deny a formal bid, talks ongoing and could move quickly. As with Christos Tzolis, Arsenal approach to agree a verbal package then formally bid.⬇️

Ok right let's face some facts here. 💣 Thanks Eddie for the good times. 🏆 Let's not also ignore all context and timing though. ❌️ Towards the end of last season Eddie was under immense pressure from fans and owners. He on multiple occasions reiterated his commitment to the job to both fans and owners. 🎤 In a meeting at Matfen Hall he was told the financial position of the club, was told the new recruitment strategy etc. He accepted these conditions and still continued to display his commitment to the club which convinced the owners to keep him on. He said in many interviews he still believes he is the right man for the job etc. Now it's reported that on day one of pre season - after wasting precious months of the clubs time in planning for his succesion - that he's changed his mind? After multiple interviews going on about "putting the club first" he walks 3 weeks before the season starts? Eddie will ultimately be remembered for the cup win and we're all grateful for that but even the most adamant "Eddie Howe outer" is right to be pissed off with this timing.

@intexcl For an “ITK” you’d think you could read a room like. NUFC has bigger problems at the moment than dealing with this pathetic excuse of a transfer saga. Trying to get a new manager in place ffs

I'm gutted about Eddie Howe's departure, but more because of what it says about the direction and management of Newcastle. Gordon and Tonali gone, Bruno next, the squad in desperate need of new leaders, and now the manager leaves 3 weeks before the season starts. A shambles.

Had it gone stale? Yes. Was it time for a change? Yes. Should he have gone at the end of the season if this was always going to be the outcome? Absolutely fucking yes. It's 24 Days until Liverpool for fucks sake 🤬 #NUFC ⚫️⚪️⚫️⚪️

The timing of this from Eddie is horrendous but the club should’ve got rid of him months ago given last seasons failures - 17 league defeats after £700m spent - no manager should survive that. Now we are left in an absolute shambles right before the start of the season. #NUFC

If a manager is lined up then this hasn’t been a shock to #nufc Quite worrying if that is the best we can attract.

I can’t believe I am seeing some people say the timing is right for Eddie Howe to leave and Newcastle United will look good coming out of this The timing is awful and our manager has walked because we have sold our top players, he had wanted to continue at the club ❌ #NUFC

These owners are fucking clueless, the time to go a different direction was in the summer, now a few weeks before the season starts we've blown it all up again, and the replacement has no PL experience at all? If you do this surely you get Poch or something.
