New paper just out in @QSS_ISSI where we find clear evidence that geographical restrictions on ChatGPT usage have largely failed. Interestingly, OpenAI seems to have taken notice, recently ramping up enforcement efforts. w/@SunMengyi @MishaTeplitskiy

Excited to share a new article with @hanzhuang1990 in @QSS_ISSI! "Incorporating costs and benefits to the evaluation of uncertain research results" we propose a unified framework for deciding when to continue research, even if it might be wrong 🤯. direct.mit.edu/qss/article/do…"

Happy to share that our paper „#OpenAccess in Ukraine 🇺🇦: Characteristics & Evolution from 2012 to 2021“, co-authored with Christian Hauschke is out in @QSS_ISSI. We analyzed 186,000 unique papers to track the #evolution & patterns of #OA over time 🧶 doi.org/10.1162/qss_a_…

As science system actors, we see how governments, more so in dev. countries, change their vision each term. How to keep pace with such a tune? 🪇 A few insights in our new post in @LeidenMadtrics on our most recent paper in 📕 @QSS_ISSI doi.org/10.1162/qss_a_…

🎶 Science policy - a game of musical chair? In a paper in @QSS_ISSI, @jcortesanchez & Catalina Ramírez studied how science policy changes with new governments. Here, they talk about their method & findings and show: sometimes it's more salsa than hip-hop! leidenmadtrics.nl/articles/mappi…

Eight publishers have received over USD $5 billion from Article Processing Fees between 2015-2023 Butler et al. (dx.doi.org/10.1162/qss_a_…) recently published an article that looked at how much revenue five publishers had received from article processing charges (APCs) between 2015-2018. It came out at about USD $1billion. I did some further analysis, extending to eight publishers, from 2015-2023. This showed that we have spent USD $5billion on #OpenAccess #APC's. This has just been published as a letter in @mitpress @QSS_ISSI. doi.org/10.1162/qss_c_… This is only the start of the analysis I want to do, as I want to extend it, perhaps looking at more publishers and also breaking it down by country.

Out in @QSS_ISSI! Imagine science policies as a game of musical chairs 💃🕺. Each new government changes the tune, causing a scramble! 🌀 So, how to map those changes? What to do about it? Here a few insights from 🇨🇴 doi.org/10.1162/qss_a_…
