Same thing happened to me. I had to refi my house to pay it off. If you pay the minimum it doesn't cover the interest. Then they sell your loan several times and each buyer adds fees. You could die with more debt than you borrowed. If the Government stopped guaranteeing student loans then 18 year old kids who were sold a lie and can't find a job after graduation the whole college education system would collapse under it's own weight. It's not an education system. It's minor league sports and predatory lending by banks

That was my experience so maybe you had a better one. I do have black friends who raise their kids right.
