Japanese Biggest Mistake in History. On December 7, 1941, Japan launched a surprise military attack on the U.S. naval base at Pearl Harbor, located in Hawaii. The attack was carried out by the Imperial Japanese Navy using aircraft launched from six aircraft carriers. The goal was to destroy the U.S. Pacific Fleet and prevent the United States from interfering with Japan's military expansion in Asia and the Pacific. During the attack: Over 2,400 Americans were killed Nearly 1,200 were wounded 8 battleships were damaged or destroyed 300+ aircraft were destroyed The attack lasted about two hours and caught the U.S. completely off guard. Japan did not formally declare war before the strike. The next day, December 8, 1941, the United States declared war on Japan. This event directly led to America's entry into World War II, changing the course of the war. Pearl Harbor is remembered as a turning point in history and a symbol of the dangers of surprise attacks. Today America 🇺🇲 stands tall again.
