Team work makes the dream work

Canucks = RESILIENT This is a cool share from Rick Tocchet folowing last nights thrilling comeback on how the coordinated playoff hoodies for his team and let his players choose the word that best defined them. Couple of lessons here... 1) Players, regardless of age or level, appreciate celebrating a milestone..ie winning the Pacific Division pennant and qualifying for the NHL playoffs. Team hoodies is one way to do it. This create a sense of a Right of Passage or ceremony to mark the occasion. Green light for coaches to get creative. 2) Ask for feedback from your players. Involving players in the decision making process, again regardless of their age or level, let's them know they truly have equity in the team or program. 3) Fun matters. At all levels. I believe that a coach who goes out his way to keep things fun, while still holding players accountable and setting a high standard, is rewarded with players willing to go the extra mile. In a nutshell, this is the art of coaching. #Canucks #nhl #hockey #coach #leadership #sports

COACHES: Here’s a clip to show your best players that don’t want to backcheck. Wow.

COL PPG - OZ Face Off • DET pressures off the draw w/ their C pushing out; F2 extends to weakside flank • COL knowing the inside is available moves the puck back to the strong side flank allowing for a quick pass to COL29 who as the C was already positioned in the bumper spot

Team Chemistry is a Difference Maker. Knicks great Dave DeBusschere said, "The best teams have chemistry. They communicate with each other, and they sacrifice personal glory for the common goal." How do you develop Team Chemistry? Here are the 5 C's of Team Chemistry 1. Communication Effective communication is the cornerstone of team chemistry. Open, honest, and clear communication helps resolve conflicts, set expectations, and create an environment where team members feel valued and heard. Team leaders must encourage feedback and maintain transparency, creating a culture of trust where everyone feels comfortable sharing their thoughts and ideas. 2. Culture Culture WINS. Team culture is the shared values, beliefs, norms, and practices that shape how a team operates and interacts. Culture is every day. It’s about creating an environment where clear standards and expectations are upheld by teammates. This accountability creates chemistry. 3. Commitment Commitment matters. It's about showing up, both physically and mentally, and putting in the effort needed to succeed. A committed teammate is accountable to the team. Commitment builds trust, and trust builds chemistry. 4. Collaboration Collaboration is about working together to achieve a common goal. It is about WE > ME. It’s built on the foundation of mutual respect and trust, where every teammate's contribution is valued and recognized. Collaboration with a team is about knowing and accepting your role on the team and making sure those roles fit together. 5. Celebration Celebration is about recognizing and appreciating the team's achievements and milestones. It builds morale, motivation, and a sense of unity in a team. Celebrating successes, no matter how small, reinforces the value of hard work and teamwork. ----- Follow me @gregberge for more Actionable Ideas on Coaching, Leadership, Culture, and Teams.
