The deeper tension here is that a lot of people using trusts aren’t trying to avoid work or “hide wealth”. Many are ordinary families, professionals, carers or retirees trying to manage liability risk, disability support, succession planning or pre-super retirement income. Governments increasingly seem to treat all flexibility in the system as suspicious by default.
